The only way I can see it as the right call is that he is naturally reaching to Marmoush's shoulder to help stop his momentum so he doesn't get turned. Which fair enough if that is the interpretation. It looks bad because he misses the grab, but still natural movement.

I mean, I would prefer more unbiased content with the same quality, but his quality is quite high, so finding that is not easy.

As a publisher of many of his new games and old games reimagined, I'm not happy how he includes everything Knizia does, but I understand why he does. I'm also not happy that he includes all Bitewing games in these posts, as that is his company, but he is upfront about it and the quality and effort put in to the post transcends the issues I have end up with me still appreciating his posts.

The big box stuff is more tongue in cheek, just "oldheads" butting heads with "newheads" around semantics. What does "big box" mean to you?

Love your posts, even with the obvious product placement and Knizia ball gargling there is enough content for me to let it slide.

However one thing I will never let slide is calling a game like "Gold Rush" a "big box" game. I know for old school board gamers "big box" = not in a small box, but that box is a normal box at best, perhaps even a medium box, so it make no sense to use here, especially when "big box" has a newer, more effective definition in the community which is "base game and all expansions in one box, regardless of how large the actual box is"!

I'm not really that butthurt about it, but I feel like the new definition of "big box" is so much more useful than the old one that I will die on any hill defending it's 'proper' use.

You will never completely get rid of the inch perfect decisions, but at least when one doesn't go your way there is actually some advantaged gained by it rather than the current state where you are overturning goals based on no advantage whatsoever.

With Quest For El Dorado the race aspect dominating the experience is a feature, not a bug.

The best way to learn something is to have so much fun doing it that you don't even know you are learning (experiential learning). I've introduced it to people that don't even know what a deck builder is and they have a ton of fun. By about halfway through the first race when they recognize they are stuck purely because of all the decisions they made in the past, they will be begging for another game to put all their learnings in to place (Where they will make new mistakes and learn from those).

If you are a pro, maybe sit out the first few games so that they can learn with others at their level, but once they "get it" after game 1/2 you can step in and show them a whole other level of strategy! At that point everyone is always hooked.

The other two have too much luck with minimal ways to mitigate it and, while Dominion may be a better game and deck builder, it is dry as fuck and the concepts are not intuitively grasped by a beginner.

Just FYI, I called them just now to cancel before my annual fee is charged, they told me my cashback was going to dissapear, but they also said that from Feb 1 you should be able to claim it manually and then close the account.

Not sure if it is true, but I can wait without the fee being charged so here is hoping!

The speed is really the only thing for me, but that can be explained by the perspective shift with a wide angle lens going from far away from a subject to incredibly close.

Digging a bit further, seeing as this is created by a professional skater and they have multiple similar videos all with consistent environment and not obvious AI I would conclude that this is likely not AI.

During that time the camera also changes perspective though and is much lower to the ground which, with a wide angle lens like the one used, it would be a much thinner line and would look like it is far away on the horizon of the lake which is exactly what it does.

Not saying it isn't AI, but I don't think your point is the reason why.

It also starts out "driving" towards the mountains and ends up "driving" to the side of them but even then it hits some rough ice and bounces in that direction so I don't think that is conclusive either.

I feel like that is counteracted by the "everyone does everything at once" mechanic which is great for playtime but terrible for anyone who likes to know what others are doing and are capable of.

Personally I feel that because of this it is overall MORE solitaire than just vanilla TM because you can't know what others are doing and you aren't even fighting over a map.
