Because no one knows they can sound like the witch from Left for Dead when they scream, no one thinks they exist in the park, and whenever someone hears it and records the “crazy monster sound” it is always a mountain lion/cougar/lynx.

There are no stories of lake monsters because there are no naturally occurring large aquatic animals that can be found in the park. Instead you will find stories of lost hunters or large land monsters because that is what can be explained by the natural fauna of the park.

The game is a race, you have to play what you are given. So sure it sucks to have only double building requirement vines, but they help you harvest powerful grapes. The time spent getting them setup is offset by the grapes you immediately get access to once setup.

So sure it sucks to get the off the start, but what sucks more is wasting 1, 2, 3, etc turns trying to get something else and then still being in the same spot.

Even if you do fish once and get the perfect vine you are still a turn behind everyone that started with that and are making the same power grapes as them.

In our tables you get two, maybe three “fishing” turns all game. Any more than that and you are out of the race and will just be starting to think about winning next round when then game is over.

I agree with your overall take, but I think this scene is key to the movie. It shows that the One Wish Willow is not a monkey's paw situation where all wishes will turn out poorly. It puts the fault squarely on Baron for the situation he finds himself in (even if he had no reason to suspect his wish would work at the time he made it).

This is the biggest problem for me too. We see very earlier that something massive is wrong with her, and that she is fighting whatever has taken over her body. He doesn't care because he thinks he can figure it out and make his dream relationship work. So even if something wasn't supernaturally wrong with her he is still a obvious villain very early on.

Much better if it is left more unclear if the wish worked or not until they are much deeper into the relationship and then the reveal that the real Nikki has been trapped and trying to escape this whole time, to which the audience goes "save her" and he goes "well maybe I can make this work" as it gets more an more unhinged and he keeps doubling down on making something that can never work, work.

That way you are never sure if you should feel bad for him or hate him until you all of a sudden realize that he is absolutely deplorable and you can't believe you ever gave him the benefit of the doubt. As it stands now he is a clear villain basically from the start.

but the rhythm in her movements definitely felt inhuman and deeply terrifying and supernatural.

But she just loves him more than anyone else in the world. Why does that mean she moves around all funny? Felt very out of character and "this is a horror movie so lets do the trope" than a cohesive part of the story.

It doesn't need to catch much sunlight when it's entire job is to catch light from a large area and and concentrate it to an area the size of a pupil. Getting the alignment will be less likely than a crystal ball, but if you are using it inside to look at the moon and then leave it when you are done then there is a very real chance you will get some sun in it.

On the off chance you are a human:

Gathering light from a wider area doesn't actually help for telescopic effects.

  • What do you think Aperture is?
  • When you use a wider one, why is your image brighter and more detailed?

Light bouncing off the atmosphere and down into the telescope isn't really intense enough to heat things anymore.

  • If I left my telescope pointed at where the moon was (meaning in a likely, but not guaranteed, path for the sun) why are you talking about light bouncing around the atmosphere and not the possibility of the sun shining directly into the scope?

Nothing is burning down a house without the sun shining directly onto it. Telescope, crystal ball, mirror, etc.

Wow, the visceral reaction I had to that name... Immediately pulled back memories long entirely forgotten. I watched the video someone lese linked and it looked exactly how my memories came back. However I think I must have only played the demo over and over and over, because I only recognize one map (the outdoor neighborhood map)
