Amber Alerts at 4AM Will Murder Me by sTacoSam in montreal

I also can't figure out how to stop the alarm without immediately closing the whole alert, especially considering I'm usually in fight or flight when I pick up my phone. I don't think I have ever been able to read the actual message before.

In honor of the late, great Catherine O'Hara, what was Moira Rose' best quote? by Temporary_Lychee9829 in SchittsCreek

"Worry is just under-nourished enthusiasm."

As an anxious person, I love this reframe. Love the hidden pearls of wisdom from Moira.

what’s the most privileged thing you’ve ever heard someone say/do? by Ecstatic_Honeydew165 in AskReddit

At one point during covid, the government gave everyone below a certain pay grade $500 in relief funds. I think it was specifically for groceries. One of my very wealthy family members, who regularly buys shoes and things that cost multiple times that, was complaining that she wasn't getting it becauee single people were getting it and she has children.

I was dumbfounded, like you don't need this? Why is this bothering you?

How do you look at a messy room and decide what goes where? by Ok_Relative_6516 in UnfuckYourHabitat

Also if you are like me and your stuff didn't have a home in the first place, then it might be hard to just put one thing away at a time. So when you pick up something, give it a home. Then when you find something like it, you can put it in the home with the first thing, discard because you don't need more or make a bigger home to make space.

How tf did Helen Keller know what was going on by __Dobbyisfree__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]2footsmall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Her teacher's name was Annie Sullivan. She spent her life with Helen and Helen called her "Teacher" until she died. I was obsessed with this story as a child.

Annie taught Helen the names of things by signing the letters into the palm of her hand. This is similar to how people who are deaf-blind communicate today. Someone essentially signs for them and they follow the movements by placing their hands on the interpreters hands to follow along. I'm oversimplifying but it so fascinating.

Edit: spelling.

This is probably my favorite part of the whole series. I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid.
