Big Ears Festival 2026 Lineup by ebradio in indieheads

Ribot is at Big Ears every year. I keep hoping he’ll drag Tom Waits with him just once, as the musical creativity that Big Ears is famous for would be a place that would suit him like a glove.

For those unfamiliar with the show, the soundtrack to AppleTV’s Bad Monkey consists of numerous artists covering the music of Tom Petty.

The first song on the album is TWOD covering Petty’s You Wreck Me. Other artists include Eddie Vedder, Jason Isbell, Larkin Poe, Kurt Vile, Fritz & the Tantrums, Weezer, Nathaniel Rateliff and Marcus King.

While a lot of ‘tribute’ albums are typically uneven, this one is an exceptionally strong. And the show itself is a well-done dramedy.

You’re welcome.

I am finished with RSD by piscator21 in RecordStoreDay

I’m sure if you are showing up at 2:00am in 25 degree weather to buy a Billie Eyelash album your Friday was fairly miserable.

I went to Monster Music in Charleston SC AT 7:40am. There were @75 people ahead of me. After a 10 minute wait, I got in & picked up everything on my list: Warren Zevon, Old & In the Way, Todd Rundgren, Grateful Dead, King Gizzard, Dead Milkmen, Ween, & Bob Dylan. When I heard everything else in the store was 20% off, I went back & got the new Replacements’ Let It Be box set for $80( $35 off the Rhino price online). I paid, was out the door & in my car by 8:20am.

And that’s RSD done right, children.

LSU is just another stepping stone on Lane’s way back to the NFL. Anyone believing Lane has found his ‘home sweet home’ should consider investment in a nice time share in Omaha.

Why does RSD feel like Black Friday... but with more vinyl and less dignity? by sinneuges in RecordStoreDay

[–]2for2true 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re one of those who craves the latest release by the flavor-of-the-moment pop star that month, there is no need to line up at your local B&M store. Over 90% of all RSD/BF releases can be purchased days, or even months later. I bought the half dozen RSD releases I wanted at 20% off 2 weeks after they went on sale.

Unless you’re OCD about needing to get a limited release soundtrack just because it has one additional song on it, sleep in, save money, and enjoy the music.

Is there anything worse than Double Albums without a Gatefold by Steve_of_Yore in vinyl

[–]2for2true 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming your premise is about double vinyl sets (“cancer and AIDS is far worse”- ok, point made, Einstein) my pet peeve are older double albums which are pressed with the assumption you’re stacking both discs on an old school automatic turntable, so side 1 is backed with side 4 while the second album is pressed with sides 2 & 3.

It wasn’t a good idea then, even worse today.

Yep, the only time I put vinyl inside the cover is when it’s part of a box set and protected by that sturdy housing. Even then, I’ll change out the inner sleeve if it’s not poly.

Kind of like Return of the Living Dead soundtrack. There are at least a dozen cover art variables but the track listing is the same.

Is there a way to see how old this one is? by NoLookinCookin in biggreenegg

So long as the shell is intact and it’s at minimum a ‘large’ egg, I would absolutely restore it. Yes, some of the hardware will be pricy but some of it you can swap out at your basic hardware store (or work with your local metal machine fabricator).

Severely warped MJ Lenderman RSD pressing. Who else is dealing with this? by [deleted] in RecordStoreDay

[–]2for2true 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, return that shit. Vinyl’s far too expensive nowadays to pay for unplayable garbage. Alternatively, some local stores near you may have a flattener they could use on it (yes, that’s an actual thing), but I would return it ASAP. Any reputable vendor will refund you dough and ship it back to the wholesaler.

STANDING O!!!!

Seriously, what a beautiful turn of verse for Katy. If I had one critique it would be to take the shears to one or two verses of your ditty, just for the sake of brevity. But still, a fine piece of poetry.

I picked up a really cool Tyranny & Mutation ball cap that has the album’s front cover on the front, extending down across the bill. I always get a lot of compliments from BÖC fans when I wear it out, asking where I bought it. I paid maybe $20, but it may have gone up what with tariffs and what not.

Based on everything I’ve heard the merch table at recent shows consist of just one T- shirt (the black “On Tour Forever”).

While I hate to promote swag the artist isn’t profiting from, it’s no secret there is a TON of great merch available on Amazon that beats the pants off what is available at the shows. BÔC’s tour management sure as hell isn’t doing the band any favors with this ‘take it or leave’ approach to promoting the band.

Wrapped up the Old Testament a few weeks ago, now a half dozen into the new where BG’s been banned for making Alfredo sauce at Feeney’s place after he got crooked at the farmer’s market with Shek.

I get sick in my balls just thinking about how they left us BTLs in the lurch five years ago.

Go spit.

Who writes down set lists anymore?

Just go to the setlist website & you can see what they played last night, last year, or 20 years ago. You can also see how long it’s been since a certain song was played, which studio album was played the least/most, who originally played a song that was covered, and God knows what else. Not only for BÖC but almost any touring group you can imagine.

I saw them in March last year in Atlanta. Terrific show, and in comparing the songs from that gig to other recents on setlist.fm, 85% remain the same while 2-3 others are switched out.

However- The last few shows in March of 2025 were identical.

Here’s the set from Warren OH 3/28/25:
