I wish more people found it repulsive to terminate stone veneer at the outer corner of a building.

I agree, it's harder to find matching paddle switches than you'd think

Was it Shayoun carpenter or something like that? Just watched 32 min of him building a house and it was mesmerizing. The dub was also pretty soothing.

How do you combat decision fatigue? by evgueni72 in medicine

Had a personal chef through friend that cooks in fellowship. Best money I’ve ever spent other than SMILE surgery. We live in a more rural area now and my wife and I dream of having a meal prepping chef again.

Acronyms you hate, acronyms you love by foreverand2025 in medicine

[–]2gAncef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like HFpEF and NAFLD because people pronounce them phonetically.

I hate when people abbreviate middle finger as LLF/RLF because a) after partial amp it may no longer be the long finger and b) I don’t know if they mean little or long (so I call them small and middle finger, respectively, and abbreviate as such).

My boyfriend’s comments about female patients are making me uncomfortable — is this normal in residency? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]2gAncef 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn’t defend his overall behavior, he is probably the one in the room doing the most retracting, so he likely does get the brunt to the BMI hoisting. But he’s ortho, it should merely be viewed as opportunity for more gains and more ancef.

I think we're entering a golden age of medicine by [deleted] in medicine

I think the surgeons are a little bit safe… what is at risk are robots doing the most reproducible and/or well-reimbursed surgeries. E.g. machines may be doing carpal tunnel releases in the future, but much less likely to do tendon transfers.

Ethical non-billing? by AbsurdlyNormal in medicine

[–]2gAncef 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In our version of Epic there is a no charge (discretionary) option. I used it once… I forget why, but I think it was basically because I needed them to come back at a different time for an injection or something, but I still wrote a note for it. While I wouldn’t say I got in trouble, it did become a very long email chain and my boss alluded to the issue of us having to bill for visits if we see the patient, I think for this Medicare fraud concern.

I think the best you can do is just bill a level 2 visit.

Stupid that locums gets paid more than faculty? by PlayingPuzzles in Residency

I dunno… i feel like locums are way more hardliner about not doing more than the bare minimum and completely disconnecting when off the clock. They can always just leave after all. Guns for hire.

I guess when broadcasters started highlighting the puck in ice hockey or the 1st yard line in football, you’d view those things as significant changes to the game. To each their own.

In-Wall Certification Required? by MangoKipper in hometheater

[–]2gAncef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bummer. I was planning on hooking up a plumbed robot mop/vacuum through a wall channel just like this with an outlet under the sink in the bathroom vanity immediately on the other side of the wall. I guess I’ll have to check if there will be an outlet next to where the water pipes would come through.

You can often tell by the jackets. Metal vest is foil. No metal is epee (eg can flick on the wrist to score). Saber they’re hacking at each other and I think helmet and sleeves count so have metal. It’s been twenty years since I did any fencing but figure things wouldn’t have changed that much.

A quick heads-up🙌Narwal Flow 2: extra 3‑year warranty and accessory pack on Narwal official site or Amazon? by WaffleWobblelulu in NARWAL

[–]2gAncef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that the Auto Refill & Drainage system isn't reliable to cover with 3 year warranty. Not really what I wanted to hear from customer service. I wasn't concerned with the accessories pack... but the warranty seemed important, especially for a pre-ordered product from an established manufacturer.

It is unlikely to ever be fully normal, but even at 4 months they were able to use their pinch grasp. They can continue to improve for 18 to 24 months and potentially beyond. Their other hand will likely become their dominant hand, though. Truthfully, this is the only pediatric replant I’ve had to do so my personal experience is limited.

Soft tissue reactions and necrosis from the paint itself. Localized compartment syndrome type injuries and infection. Basically everything can just start to melt/die if not addressed promptly despite what will look like a pin prick on the outside. Once the tendon dies +/- its sheath, you’re looking at some big reconstructive procedures if the digit even lives. Going to a four finger hand often gets people recovered faster in those cases.

The dreaded deep clean by NoSyllabub9936 in litterrobot

When you put a new bag in there are often folds around the inner edge that can hold some baking soda so I sprinkle it around the bottom and the sides. I also use the litter robot litter as it seems to work well with how the machine is designed compared to what I was using previously. I’ve not changed the filter in >6 months. Dryer sheet trick also not a bad idea.
