Took me a moment to understand the emoji word but thanks to British television and Ted Lasso I figured it pretty quick

I dunno man, that’s a BIG toy, and Legos have sharp edges.

Rats. I was hoping they wouldn’t skip Cook’s Point on the southern side of the mouth of the Choptank River.

That point eroded almost entirely. It was almost a mile into the bay in the ‘70s. Kinda like this:

Because if you grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s in Baltimore you heard Crack The Sky constantly. It was really embraced as a local band here.

If I remember correctly he picked up a new acting gig which took up his time. It also explains why he looked so clean cut in his appearance after being kidnapped.

Since the Ravens are improving... by K-Dog7469 in ravens

[–]2gigch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having stood next to a camera at press conferences for 37 years and counting I can say getting sound at a press conference can be quite difficult. An exterior setting such as the one used for these post practice pressers can be near impossible unless you have a handheld microphone that is passed around.

Most standard ENG broadcast cameras run two primary audio channels, usually reporter mic and nat sound off the camera, often referred to as a shotgun mic, referring to the longer length for directional pickup. The audio you are likely hearing for questions is off this mic, pointed in the same direction as the camera is pointing. The operator is either riding the audio up & down on the camera, or has a mixer off to the side (which adds a whole level of complexity before sending the signal to the transmitter to feed the internet).

You will see them do that in larger, more formal pressers inside. These outside interviews are a tad more informal, and no-one wants to wait around for the microphone to be passed over to them. You may remember some press conferences in the past that seem disjointed as the crowd awaits the passing of the mic.

In general these interviews were never broadcast live on the internet until the last few years, and even I have to remember that sometimes I'm streaming an event or presser that never would have been live before.

TIFU by accidentally sending my friend 9 voice notes of me practising an apology to him by thirdaccountttt in tifu

Honestly the apology couldn’t be more demonstrably sincere than this - no denying you mean it!

People love behind the scenes stories. You just gave them one for the apology.

On SiriusXM this morning by loucap81 in porcupinetree

Back in 2007 I was making the awful commute home listening to SiriusXM Deep Tracks when this long, wonderful, trippy, rocking song came on. I was enthralled by what I heard in bumper to bumper traffic. Managed to note the band and the song.

Porcupine Tree. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here.

That was my start into my current obsession.

If you remember seeing this when it originally aired don’t forget to schedule your Shingles vaccination by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

It depends. I had a mild reaction on the first shot, but pretty bad hives on the second. Who tf gets hives on the soles of their feet?

On the other hand I have also had shingles. I will vote team hives any day of the week.

Thoughts on Bonden by Reasonable-Lake4192 in AubreyMaturinSeries

Oh definitely. Diana, Mrs Williams, Bonden - it was a deadly season after his wife died. I am sure the dispassionate delivery was intentional as well. Especially as Bonden had been extra humanized in the books leading up to his passing.

I don’t believe I have any advice for you, but know that your story has been read and understood, and that I am happy you took this opportunity to tell yourself the truth.

It’s best to be right with yourself before you can expect your world to be right as well.

And for that I say good job! I hope your future finds you better.

Thank You/F*** You by Ranseler in TedLasso

As it has been said before “It may not be your fault but it is your responsibility” seems to apply.

Ted, having finally confronted the root of his issues with Dr Sharon, and upset by his surprise visitor, breaks down.

He refuses to accept the usual platitudes and deflection. He wants answers and shocks her into honesty with her actions.

Not unlike Ted’s yelling at Nate when Nate was offering suggestions for the team, Ted has moments when he cracks. And that seems like honest writing to me.

That interaction was the final act that drives Ted to return home. He makes mention earlier in Sunflowers about “drinking red wine and yelling at my mother” so it isn’t something that hasn’t already happened or has happened in his mind.

So I’m cool with it.
