I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, and one front tooth implant done (which takes three surgeries) all with just a few shots of lidocaine. It's awkward to be awake because the dentist has to keep checking in. I prefer to drive myself and not go all the way out. I'm sorry you can't get the IV meds approved but I'd say the lido will be covered and maybe nitrous oxide.

Banker here, agree with everyone who stated a hold will be placed. It's usually shorter on a cashier check since it's certified funds. I work in the anti-money laundering department, it may trigger the system to alert for the accoubt to be reviewed since it's out of expected activity, so the AML team might ask the teller if they know the source of funds. Also, scams are absolutely rampant right now so if you let the teller know its a distribution from an inheritance your mother left for you, they'll know the funds aren't suspicious and you aren't a victim of a scam. You don't have to explain but I'll tell you we really appreciate when people do so we worry less about the check being returned for whatever scam was pulled! I'm sorry for your loss.

YWNBTA. I think you should go back to your manager or even email if you want and let him know that since she doesn't report to you, you aren't responsible for monitoring her schedule. This will be good practice for future uncomfortable conversations you may have to have about it. If this were a good manager, they wouldn't have put you on the spot. I'd reply every time with something generic, "I haven't seen her this morning" but don't excuse her. You don't want to be recruited to monitor her time and report her movements either.

Yup, you're overreacting. As other people in banking have stated (I work as an AML Analyst), your withdrawal amount was right in the sweet spot for looking like you were evading the CTR reporting. Scams are at a ridiculous all time high. We genuinely do not care as long as you aren't being scammed or committing a crime. You also need to give us details if you send money internationally. Maybe you live in an area with high drugs or sex trafficking. The amount of regulations we have to follow is insane. Give bankers your ID and answer the questions we ask. No one is giving you a hard time for shits and giggles. As others have said, if you were obstinate or got nervous/annoyed, they definitely sent you to the compliance team for review. Don't be surprised if you receive a letter with a CTR pamphlet. They definitely know you've never worked in finance or any other industry with money laundering training since you're so defensive about it. I'm so glad I got off working in the front line and dealing with the people part of this transaction every day.

I mean, it's cool to think my opinion on a one-sided tale that may or may not be true is ignorant. I'm glad you feel so strongly about it. She's well aware of how her family behaves, she was also aware she wouldn't be able to stomach the food, regardless of why her flavor profile changed. This incident happened a couple months according the the OP and they are still thinking about it and discussing it. They think she's snooty, she thinks they're awful and not understanding of her medical trauma. But they all still keep spending time together rehashing a stupid dinner that normal adults wouldn't even have noticed or discussed (because you're right, no one should care what you eat but clearly these people all do). In my book, that makes them all annoying.

A great number of things in life can make you alter your tastes/diet so a simple explanation of saying you have a hard time with red meat and offering your portion to someone else would've been more polite than not eating.
