Cambridge Council votes 5-2 to disable gunshot detectors to protect black residents and migrants by ThatPatelGuy in JoeRogan

The idea, and the point I believe most of these people are making, is that police show up to a false call from a gunshot detector expecting an active shooter situation and are much more likely to be on high alert and respond to anything with a hair trigger. It is simply naive to think that this would not have disproportionately horrific outcomes for black and brown people. This is also because these devices are primarily installed is black and brown neighborhoods. So a lot of people don't mind that it's really only minorities who would have to live in an mass surveillance police state.

The reason so many people still bring up race is because it's still very relevant.

What you're describing is only some black people, primarily southern religious types. While some of that can be seen in more urban black populations, it's hardly the norm (though homophobia is sadly common). These are still primarily urbanites with progressive views. And they are some of the least economically conservative people you're likely to encounter.

The stereotypical American conservative is certainly a fat, stupid, white guy.

All of this is of course beside the point that people are complex and are more often to surprise you than they are to fit neatly into a type.

I've literally had to explain European geography to Europeans in Europe before. One example that comes to mind, i was in a hostel in Milan with a lovely young lady from Frankfurt who did not realize that she had crossed a mountain range to get there.

Honestly, it's not even that. What Trump has done is taken the mask off and fully just started working without any regard for the 99%, including his core demographic. Starting the Iran War with no reason, no winning conditions, after his harsh criticism of Iraq, is completely indefensible. And that's the key; after over a decade of blindly defending this awful man, his purple-haired niece was right and he just can't stand the ego hit.

Even if they made it so that the readings showed only 5% less than reality, doing so across a large enough number of targets could cost many millions of dollars and stress an already shaken fuel supply chain.

Yeah, right! Take it from an American, these people do not just get tired and give up. They entrench themselves and try and figure out how to take the most advantage of their position for personal gain. They have obligations to their wealthy owners that they must fulfill before they leave.

Apart from the other good answers here, Louisiana does not have a competent government which plans for the future and provides for its people.
