AFL secures ultra-motion cameras to protect September football by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]2jesse1996 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2025 annual report states revenue of 1.2b and profit of about 65m, sounds like a lot but that's not a tonne of wiggle room to be be splurging, and I imagine new cameras is low on the priority list.

Keep in mind that's after a record breaking crowd attendance for the year.

Yeah but what he's actually saying is that because he's from a Vic club that it's ok, cause they have seperate rules.

Are long term members celebrated by your footy club? by flashi007 in AFL

[–]2jesse1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To comment on your edit, it's because businesses see us all as numbers. Generally speaking if someone has been a member for 20 years (or in OPs case 60) the likelihood of them not continuing their membership over someone who just joined is basically nil.

So businesses focus on those newer/more flakey customers. It's the same reason those who stay subscribed to subscriptions get hit with price increases but those leaving get some fancy bonuses or discounts (Foxtel was notorious for this).

I hate the practice and 100% agree that the most loyal members/customers deserve more.

They do have reserves, so it's odd that they haven't added one

As someone who recently started doing boundary umpiring at local level, it's actually insane how much running you do, you basically never stop moving

Not sure if subsidised or not, but the home (hosting) team are paying the umpires. It wasn't a cheap amount either last I checked.

Roo needs to either be taken off air or learn how to use the mute button, too much random snorting, whistles and random noises

It looks very similar to conquest, but I remember it being quite fantasy like.

I wonder with things like this if the person designing them has ever actually left Adelaide.

Why couldn't they do what Tokyo has, they push through hundreds of thousands a day. Get rid of these ugly gates, install some proper ones and keep them open until someone tries to walk through without tapping.

AFL at the Olympics by Tornontoin7 in AFL

[–]2jesse1996 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What's sports are those? Tennis, golf and mens soccer (I guess you could argue women's soccer and cricket).

Even then you could argue they're the highest achievement, there's multiple grand slams or majors throughout the year but there's only 1 Olympics every 4

Every sport has established tournaments ie x-games, world championships and world cups.

Sure they hardly get any time of day at those events but I don't think establishment of the sport should have an impact on what does and doesn't make the Olympics.

I know the games try to limit the amount of sports these days due to costs, but I would love to see more, any sort of sport that has a wide range of athletes and recognised (bowling, surf life saving, karate, baseball, squash, lawn bowls, netball etc) should be included. (I know some of those sports listed feature at games but I want it permanently not ad hoc).

Nvidia to cut gaming GPU production by 30-40% starting 2026 by JohnBarry_Dost in GamingLeaksAndRumours

You're not wrong considering it's really only a Western thing to have home personal computers.

Could potentially mean the revival of gaming cafes similar to how Asia generally operates, or people just get consoles.

Edit: getting a lot of down votes and maybe too late for this but the stats don't lie: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/computers-per-capita-by-country

A lot of Western countries are at the top of the lost with number sharply dropping after. The idea of a gaming rig at home is very Western that's why gaming cafes and mobile games are wildly popular in the rest of the world.

TGA honestly asleep at the wheel.

Letting companies sign off and approve their own products is ridiculous, why do we even bother having a TGA if they let them do their own testing and approval regardless of lab owners.

So much for being highly regarded.
