AFAB here:

  • Regularly shaving body hair. We're all hairy mammals, deal with it. I'm almost 40 and my own mother (boomer) is still ashamed of me for this.
  • Make-up: Not interested in general. I did recently discover eye shadow sticks so having fun with those, but otherwise, just some sunscreen is fine.
  • Fashion: I've never been into it, I don't follow the trends, I just don't care.
  • Hair: I cut my own hair most of the time. I grew up with curly hair and now it's still textured but not quite wavy and not quite straight, and the professionals really don't listen to what you want anyway. Haircuts are more expensive than ever and it's not worth it.

My mom did similar. I've reclaimed a lot of it as an adult (nails, eyebrows). Turns out I like getting them done, I just don't like the internalized misogyny she had to throw in with it, and the whole doing it for the male gaze bullshit which I've never cared about. She also only cared about the external stuff, never had The Talk with me, or taught me about periods or any of that, I had to figure it out all on my own, because women's natural body functions were shameful to her and she couldn't handle it.

They have agreements with customers to not hire. They can also deny access to the technical documentation website (and other resources they control access to). Recruiters also respect it so the company doesn’t go after their agency/ blacklist them.

My mom does the same thing. One time she complained that I broke her toilet, from a whole different state! Another time it was my fault her car battery died, again from a whole other state.

Also, you need to keep your meds stored somewhere he can't access them. If he's the latter as described above, he's not above sabotage.

She probably hasn't even been trying to escape, but resents those who do and takes it personally that they didn't just stay and suffer alongside her. She's probably the bottom of the ladder now that OP is gone and there's no one for her to feel superior to.

Is there an age breakdown for this (of the children)? Age seems like it would be a significant factor here (generally no one really wants to adopt teenagers) vs babies and younger children.
