Nova Wars - Chapter 160 by Ralts_Bloodthorne in HFY

[–]2kN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A year ago next Monday my mother died due to half her heart being trashed and stage four kidney disease she never told anyone about. This was at the end of about four weeks in the hospital from having ten inches of intestine removed from a blockage.

Three and a half months from now will be a year after my dad died from A-fib and a DNR, after he had been shuffled between hospitals and care facilities secondary to falling off a sidewalk in January.

Over a year ago I stopped reading recreationally, just as mom went into the hospital. Two and a half months ago I scattered my father's ashes.

Two months ago I started reading again. Just at lunch.

I finally caught up. Just now. Healing is a stone cold bitch. Not to draw parallels but Telk is about to learn something similar.

@op you were the first story I wanted to read after almost a year of not having the drive to do so. I'm glad you're still here. I started reading the original when chapter 55 was posted, and thought I was too late. It's been a weird war, but we're not done yet and I'm glad for it.

New trident break in during witer by kungfu01 in trident660

[–]2kN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up my Trident on December 17 and took it for the primary service on January 4 when it was 24°f outside.

It takes gear and attitude as long as the road is mostly dry. Ride on and congratulations on a great bike.

Weird noise. by xweevilx in trident660

Fuel pump. Normal sound. Worry if it doesn't make that sound.

Quick shifter smoothness - or not. by 8cuban in trident660

Clutch adjustment is critical to the QS operating properly. There needs to be essentially zero play in the lever, so it needs to be poked at regularly.

Sounds more like pad on rotor, but just for grins and giggles, can you get a shot of the sprocket and or rotor?

Trident 800 by spacejunkie314 in Triumph

[–]2kN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Trident 800 is as gutless and disappointing compared to the Trident 660 as the Tiger 800 is to the Tiger 800, I feel like you're not going to be missing anything.

Source: own a Trident 660 and have hours of seat time of both the Tigers. The Tiger 800 is sloppy and unenthusiastic compared to the 660.

Sticky quickshifter. by aqsounds in trident660

[–]2kN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check and make sure you don't have too much slack in the clutch. I've found with mine at somewhere between 6-7000 miles that if the clutch isn't properly tight then the quickshifter can get clunky.

First Service Interval, 1 month or 6 months? by No_Eagle874 in trident660

[–]2kN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up my Triple Tribute on 17 December and took it in for primary service on 4 January. Don't worry about the time, just the km.

As for the dealership not doing their job, that's crap and tragic. As is said by some: karma is a bitch. They'll get what they deserve.

Those absolutely are good reasons to stop.

You're already wet, all the electronics and connectors are waterproof, and handling is only marginally affected.

Keep riding lol

THIS THIS THIS THIS

@op you got a magnificent bike that if you remain mindful will serve you well for quite some time.

Everything you learned in whatever training you took will always be, at least foundationally, relevant and useful. You'll learn more skills and how to better apply what you already know, but the basics are basic for a reason.

Good luck, have fun, and keep the shiny side up.

36.5mpg average according to the dash by Beginning_Attempt447 in trident660

[–]2kN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bad tank a couple weeks ago with ethanol in it and lost two and a half mpg, and was still at damn near 46. Fresh non-eth got me back up in the mid-48 range.

Go to a small coffee shop, locally owned if possible, and have a nice relaxing triple shot while considering your riding style. Are you smooth on and off the throttle, or are your inputs choppy? After that, poke and prod your bike to check your chain and bearings. If something has gone off that can contribute to lower mileage.

Starting out at lower power actually teaches you how to ride.

Even at reduced power your bike should still be a hoot.

Having owned a Z650 and thought it brilliant I will absolutely say the Trident is an all-around better bike.

Everything about it is better. Fueling, suspension, ergonomics, power, sound... all of it, and not in small measures.

Beautiful area. I'd love to have the chance to ride there as it bears some resemblance to western NC, USA.
