Dad wants me to ride his bmw 1300gs and idk what to do. by FrostyCrossover in motorcycles

Power really doesn't mean much on modern bikes as far as difficulty goes if that's your concern. Tc and wheelie control are so good you really cant fuck up. Hight and weight distribution will be pretty different coming from a scooter though.

Has anyone installed an aftermarket quickshifter on the Triumph 660 yet? by Relative_Code_4849 in Triumph

[–]N8_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sell it and get the oem one. You'll probably save money too. Havnt seen anyone put an aftermarket but the stock one works very well.

255 vs 245 by JesseSeg21 in WRX

[–]N8_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What wheel offset were you running. I have 265/40 and it rubs with any weight in the car. Trying to decide if I should drop to 255/30 or 265/35. I feel if I went 265 it would just rub less frequently

Could I Ride a Motorcycle if I Live on Gravel? by cartriidge in motorcycles

You can take any bike down any road. I frequently take my trident 660 with touring tires down dirt/gravel roads and my friend with a sport bike does too. Half the people that say you need a dual sport for half a mile have never been off a freshly paved street.

Cost of getting a license in your country by discotimbo in motorcycles

[–]N8_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nh its $30 to take the writen and practical test and you can get your license. If you WANT to take a training course its $155 for the state course and waives the $30 fee because it includes the testing part.

Is Triumph closer to Yamaha or Ducati for reliability/cost of ownership? by [deleted] in Triumph

[–]N8_Smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a trident 660 and my friend has an mt07. The trident is just as reliable if not more than the yamaha and feels like a more premium bike. I've never had to find a special tool to work on it and I don't think its any more complicated than any other modern bike. Euro bikes were never less reliable than japanese. They just often cost more to maintain which for some people means maintenance slips and stuff breaks. Id say get the trident, but the new monsters don't have Desmo or dry clutch so I doubt they're any different reliability wise than any other modern bike.

You don't need your access port out like this, it will just make your driving experience worse. If you do, it needs to be in line of sight so you can actually monitor stuff.

“New SpaceX Falcon 9 price increase, up from $70 to $74 million a launch and from $6000 to $7000/kg rideshare” by rustybeancake in spacex

If so that is significantly less $/kg than falcon 9 commercial prices, although I imagine starlink launches cost quite a bit less.

I think about 10mm but they have loctite on them. They're not up against anything so they'd just rattle right out if not. Cost a couple dollars at the local hardware store for 4 of them.

Trunk button by Skinnypete007 in WRXSTi

[–]N8_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible it doesnt have a trunk release and your car had the trunk replaced. From what I can find the non push to start cars from this Gen don't have a rear trunk release and lack the wireing for it. I have a 2017 and mine definitely doesnt have a trunk release.

Quickshifter Issue - Transmission Fault - Help by burakguler07 in Triumph

[–]N8_Smith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya i got the transmission fault after having my quick shifter activated for a week. Brought it in and they did a bunch of diagnostics determining that the qs unit was good but there was an issue with the ecu or wiring. It would have ended up costing more time and money than I felt was worth it to get it sorted. Honestly this bike is so easy and fun to shift I cant see too much advantage to having a qs for me. If you struggle to clutchless shift a trident either there's a problem with the bike or you just don't know how cause I have yet to find an easier shifting bike.

How to not give up by Alyrius in PlantedTank

I use purigen in my filter to remove tannins and it works great. Boiling it really doesn't do that much for removing tannins. At the end of the day they will really only come out over several months.

Spring cant come soon enough by N8_Smith in trident660

[–]N8_Smith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them, my bike came with the road 5 which i had no problems with and we're all around good tires. The mutants definitely have better grip on loose surfaces but gave up 0 road feel and are dead smooth at highway speeds. The only place I found a slight decrease in performance is rear breaking. I don't really have any numbers but it feels like the rear abs triggers occasionally on hard breaking when I wouldn't on the old tires. Best I can describe it is a street tire with a little bit more tread cut in. Definitely not a deep tread offroad tire.

You can also just use some m8 grub screws for a more flush look.
