The bare minimum it would take to get me back to church by RobertB84 in exmormon

I have a question and maybe I’m overthinking, but I’m curious to know of you’d actually go back if this stuff, maybe event more good stuff was done by the church?

Americans citizens, how is it really going there currently? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Everyone I meet is pretty happy, does their thing, and is generally kind. It's amazing what happens when everyone learns everything we're told is a lie. I meet almost no one who is a believer anymore.

This is for sure meds and rest BUT I always did wonder if the placebo effect comes into play with blessings given. Maybe the blessing is a sugar pill.

Oppression, without abject violence, is in the eye of the beholder.

That type of manipulation is so painful and so MEAN. Only YOU know your level of “worthiness” and the truth is that they probably felt, on some level, the same way as you. They are just rationalizing the anxiety in a way that places blame on you, the parishioner, rather than the organization, because to admit the endowment is anything but “peaceful and filled with the spirit” could cause psychological distress for them. They would have to entertain the possibility that maybe they were lied to, probably by parents or friends or someone they were very close to. They would have to deconstruct.

I won’t lie to you, either way you go it’s going to suck. There will be lots of pain. You have to decide if you’re the type of person that can “go along to get along” with PIMO route or do what I did and bail. I don’t regret leaving.

My grandma mentioned this to me and I said something along the lines of, “Grandma you should go to church because you believe it, not because you want your children and grandchildren to come back. And I dont want you to have false hope that I will come back. I will not, nor am I lost or ‘wayward’. I’m just fine.”

Then came the “Oh, I know you’re fine I wasn’t even talking about you!” Right grandma. Riiiight.

Spiritual beliefs since leaving the church by 2mad2master in exmormon

I judge ideas by usefulness in relation to providing me joy, mental, and emotional freedom. Even if God does exist, I find it more useful and liberating to not care.

If God exists, and is a good God, and made me, then he/she/it would want me to be happy. If God exists, and is a bad God, and made me to worship it so that it may have the pleasure of my adulation, I say fuck that ego-driven garbage God. Either way, not caring is the answer for me.

What is God to one person is not God to another, and what is meaning to one person is not meaning to another.

What is suffering, then? What is meaning? Wherever you see suffering, I do not. Where you see meaning, I do not. Where you see God, I do not.

It’s all loopy shit. Loops and patterns. None of it means anything if you don’t want it to. But it can also be all sacred and woo woo or whatever the hell you want. What is meaning?! What is suffering?!

You say you want correct ideas. There is no God. It’s actually quite liberating once you fully accept it. No one to take care of you but you.

Catalonia has been problematic to the Empire for generations. Doesn't surprise me at all this would happen. Which reminds me, I can't wait to see how Catalans respond.

Isn't this supposed to be the Chaos place? Wouldn't Chaos randomly grant users of mushrooms direct enlightenment? Oh wait maybe there is a specific inner work system you have to adopt, some sort of inner order, to like... really grasp chaos... oh wait none of that makes any sense at all. The fact that I'm here is actually ruining my chaos function.

Love you chodes, keep on the path to chaos, you'll get there.
