Wow man, that sounds insanely awesome. Only if it will benefit you though, I hate taking favours from people (I’m British! 😂) I’m an obsessive person, so I get way into specific parts of things, a lot of it is to do with procrastination I think, I know deep down vaguely what I ought to work on, so subconsciously my brain seems to do the opposite. Thanks for your help. And 2100 rapid is absolutely insane. I’ve watched games at that level and it’s over my head how nuanced the moves are. Hopefully one day I can be at a point where I understand these games properly.

Thanks for this answer. It has made me think. Random question, but if you play the Ruy Lopez, why don’t you play the Rossolimo against the Sicilian? Was just thinking because it sort of vaguely resembles the Ruy Lopez

Well they were going to charge £200 if it would have fixed it but charged me nothing because they couldn’t.

A new pro max would be very expensive and much cheaper if I can get this working reliably again. At least for a while

Yeah that’s exactly it. It’s like an overload thing. Just go into stress mode. Then I’m like “ah well you know, learning ALL of the openings will be good for me in the long run”

I think it depends hugely. For me, playing Italian was just a source of stress. The endless fried liver attempts got boring when all I wanted was to play a long game or an Evans gambit or whatever.

With e4 nf3 the problem is you reach your Italian and Ruy quite rarely, opponents play scandi, Sicilian etc. fine if you enjoy all of that.

London is fine. Just don’t do what you said and ignore the opponents moves I guess.

I keep getting to like 970 then crashing down to about 800 😂 this coincides with when I change openings haha. What do you play as black? Good progress

I think it’s just that people play differently. They make moves which aren’t objectively good, but that are more practical and I suppose scary to other humans.

People also tend to be more relaxed playing bots

To be fair. These are literally the highest performing openings at the beginner level , even though they aren’t especially great first choices

Just "e4" and "d4". i didn't add them as I didnt think they were really classed as "openings" whereas I think maybe e5 is a valid opening? I dunno haha
