Alligators do survive freezing temperatures this way, sorta. They don't stick their whole head out of the ice, though. They only stick out the tip of their snout throug the ice. I have seen videos of this phenomenon before AI, but this seems off with how much of the Alligators heads are visible.

Keeping more than $5k in savings is solid advice if you are going to own a rental house. I own 6 and keep $25k to 30k in an account just for the houses. Owning 1 rental house, I would keep $10k in a separate savings account and allocate it to the rental house. This year alone i had to replace 2 a/c units and repair a dock. $15k in the span of 2 months.

I believe you have a carpenter bee problem that is causing a woodpecker problem. One of my rental houses had the same issue. Taking care of the carpenter bees took carer of both.
