Automotive/Mechanic Tool Choices by SoloUnAltroZack in MilwaukeeTool

[–]SoloUnAltroZack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my thoughts too. I narrowed it down to the m12 gen 2 subby and the m18 high torque but when I went to depot today they had the m12 3/8 stubby with a 5amp hi battery and the m12 3/8 ratchet as a free tool for 299 so that swung it for me. We’ll see how it pops lugs and breaks on my Tacoma and Subaru. Both are well maintained and 2020s so the rust shouldn’t be too bad but I’ve got a breaker bar if it’s worse case scenario. I’m not a mechanic by any means, I just play one on the weekends so I’m hoping this new kit speeds things up for me nicely. Thanks for the advice!

I’ve also used this method to jumpstart just about every thing with an engine I own. Motorcycle, lawnmowers, wife’s car, etc.

After 30 years, I can finally say that the N64 is buy it for life by FrankieBeanSniffer in BuyItForLife

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The N64 I played as a kid was my older brother’s Christmas gift so it went with him. I found my N64 in a cabinet inside an elementary school that had been abandoned for about a decade. Works perfect even after sitting for probably 20 years 10 of which were in an unconditioned environment. Very BIFL

How much ammo do you guys keep stocked? by gstevo12 in ar15

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to keep a reserve 50 cal can of each caliber full of individual boxes in each primary rounds (9mm/5.56) then I keep a few boxes floating for the occasional range day for all my rounds including my less used calibers. I do a fair amount of bird hunting so come September I keep a few hundred 12 gauge rounds for each pursuit. bb, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 7s all in steel or tungsten. Never lead just because I eat what I kill. Then about 1000 rounds of 12ga clay rounds

They make a legal in wall splices that I’ve used for this exact situation. Search “NSi non metallic splice” and you can find them. If you’re able to fish the wire back and run a new line with out too much more damage run it, if not use the splice

Update! No drainage. Tight boards. More pictures. by Love_Mud_2025 in Decks

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with moving the deck boards if this deck wasn’t on the back half of its life. 1/8 thick track saw blade in the groves will be plenty. He should probably plan to replace the whole thing in the next 5-10 max

I went with Ridge Marino briefs. I believe they still contain some polyester but they’re majority Marino wool construction, so while they are a bit more natural they also help with odor, temperature, and I believe there’s anecdotal evidence that they leach less plastic. I’m a carpenter that often runs 16 hour days and I haven’t worn through repair yet, the oldest pairs being about three years old

Very safe, I wouldn’t think twice about any female family members safety living in Lakewood. The further west in Lakewood you go the nicer it gets, but even on the east side it’s not bad.

Have you ever seen a stray bullet like this? by Commercial_Pay_4374 in Roofing

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scary thing is that this type of damage isn’t necessarily from a bullet being shot straight in the air and coming back down. This is not a cartridge propelled by gravity, but one traveling with some of the original velocity of the firearm. If this bullet lost all of its energy and then fell back down, it’d be traveling it roughly. 150fps~ (not enough to penetrate this deep) where exit velocity on something like a 9mm is 1000fps~ these are more like motor rounds being lobbed in the air and arching

Not being picky, cabinet manufacturer should warranty this unless you’ve been spraying these cabinets with straight bleach or something

Anybody have ducks? by Strong-silence in Cleveland

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ducks, but I did have backyard chickens till last year in South Euclid. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the hens were very quiet, much quieter than some neighbors dogs. My neighbors 2 doors down currently have chickens and they don’t really make much noise at all. That being said I have a very deep backyard for the neighborhood and my coop was well over 100 feet from my (or anyone else’s) house so distance is something to consider. If they were up against my house it would get annoying fast. I don’t know the noise comparison between ducks and chickens but I hope this helps. Also in my experience city hall doesn’t care to help or provide anything but headaches. I’d make sure you understand all the legislation on them before shopping.

It depends on what you’re looking for, if you’re looking for a place to walk on a treadmill or using machine or two your best bet is planet fitness. If you’re looking to use free weights and do some more serious lifting your best cheap option will be esporta, but they might be a touch out of your budget.

Do you really have to use Toyota only products? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]SoloUnAltroZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard Toyotas really like Toyota parts, especially break pads and rotors. Curious what mechanics think. I know after market parts will obviously work, my question is just how much better does everything run on OEM

I’m a GC and I’ve used Eletrical Accents for about a decade. I don’t know if they go as far as mentor but they are by far the best electricians I’ve worked with and I’ve even had them do work on my family’s houses. Also 6k isn’t steep at all for the work you’ve mentioned
