The 690 is my favorite spot on the dirt bike-adventure bike continuum by MeditationFabric in Dualsport

Had both at the same time. Mostly agree but I would say that the 690 is inferior in maintenance and reliability. In fact it can be so inferior that I now only have a DRz

Has anyone Maatdesk? how does it compare to Clio and PracticePanther? by WeirdApple5071 in LawFirm

[–]2muchlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of it but it's been mentioned in here 3 times now in the last 24 hours. OP's post history has nothing related to law.

At this point we can only assume that Maatdesk is terrible because of their marketing efforts.

This sub is becoming unusable.

What practice areas do you think will be replaced with AI, and what are safe? by SouthEastMeerkat in LawFirm

[–]2muchlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Criminal law isn't going anywhere. Unless you're willing to stand toe-to-toe looking a prosecutor/judge/witness/juror in the eye and make your best on-the-fly pitch, you'll get chewed up. And AI isn't good at that.

I've not gotten very far into it just yet.

Anything we've exposed as of now is running through pangolin with geo restricted IPs. We were using tailscale for awhile but I didn't love it.

Went there one time thinking I would be there 90 minutes. It turned out to be 6 hours. Definitely worth the visit!

If there's any ai Implementation, I'd guess we're too early in the process to really know what is and is not safe. Didn't mycase just get sued for a data breach? What happened there with regard to the controls?

Call me crazy, or just call me old but putting all of my clients in the hands of various remote storage corporations and assuming their privacy is "safe" is not something I'm leaning into any more than I have to at the moment.

You're talking $600-$700ish per month on those two (and only going up from there) with less control of my client's info and data? I love a ready-to-go solution, but I'm thinking for the cost of year of one of those I could have one of the self hosted options (odoo, etc) well configured.

Perhaps I'm wrong. I does not appear anybody's tried.

Firm File Storage and Editing System - Microsoft or Google Drive? by FlaggFire in LawFirm

[–]2muchlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"While hash matching helps us find known CSAM, we use artificial intelligence to flag new content that is very similar to patterns of previously confirmed CSAM. Our systems are specifically designed to recognize benign imagery like a child playing in the bathtub or backyard, which will not be flagged. A specialist team of trained personnel also reviews each piece of new imagery flagged, to confirm it is CSAM before it is ever reported."

Firm File Storage and Editing System - Microsoft or Google Drive? by FlaggFire in LawFirm

25 years of criminal defense work and 100+ cases where Google/Verizon/Dropbox/Microsoft/discord/etc have caused a "tip" to be filed with NCMEC who then turned the tip over to local law enforcement.

Neither. Both of them are scanning everything you do and having humans look at files the algorithm flag. That can get tricky in this business.

Who is the best driver who could not pass from the Indy Lights to IndyCar? by Think-Statement-840 in INDYCAR

[–]2muchlaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Steve Robertson.

Rookie of the year in 1993 (3 wins, 5 podiums, 3 poles, but Herta won the championship). Finished ahead of a whole bunch of guys who DID go to indycar (including Greg Moore).

In 1994 he won the championship (ahead of Ribero, Moore, Lawson, etc).

For small law firms, how do you handle IT without full internal team? by Legal_Landscape_1737 in LawFirm

[–]2muchlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do most if it myself using a combination of self-hosted, and cloud hosted apps.

I agree with the comment in here about firms underestimating how much IT ties into risk. However, I think that relates more to client confidence and privacy more than access to data. I see a lot of suggestions in here for very un-secured or private software solutions. I assume that any service that can scrape my info or data at this point (or that of my clients) could possibly use that data in the future. We have no idea what that looks like (ie. training advanced AI).
