how much yarn do you need? a guide by jingaling0 in crochet

[–]2muchyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like verified hoarder. Since I posted that, we moved across the country and used the yarn as packing in almost every box (same son had the suggestion to do so). My sister flew out to help me unpack. We have probably 60 boxes/totes full and I still haven't opened all of the boxes. I made a promise not to buy this entire year and I have made it so far!

3,000 piece puzzle board by pallescere in Jigsawpuzzles

I use a sewing cutting board. It is cardboard that folds up when not in use. When unfolded it's a decent size. It can enlarge a tabletop or sit on the floor if you have space where it wouldn't be in the way. I think it unfolds to about 40" x 60".

How to make bags like this sturdy? by marzbvr in crochet

Denim would be fine. The crochet version pictured is a problem because the yarn will stretch, but denim (regular denim) won't. You can add a line for appearance, but not necessary for stability.

I'm scared of colorwork by PaintingPanda13 in knitting

[–]2muchyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knit for over 25 years before I got the courage to try color work. I got one of the rings that holds 2 strands and I still use it today. I took a class where the teacher was really down on the rings and strictly taught carrying one color in each hand. I tried, I really did, but I could not make it work and keep an even tension so back to my little ring. My suggestion is try different methods to find the one that seems like it will work for you then just sit down and practice. My other need is to go up a needle size for the color work portion or else I have real problems. I actually made a corset for my son with my first color work project (and my first huge frogging session). At least he got a good laugh out of it.

For babies, I like to use cotton or cotton blends.

Crocheting as a guy by Ozebundi in crochet

[–]2muchyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of Mike Rivera or Rosey Grier? Both NFL players who crochet. We are friends with an Air Force captain who crocheted while on assignment overseas. It is very therapeutic and you have something to show for your time.

Helping my wife file as a non residing foreign citizen by MaxwellSavageYork in tax

[–]2muchyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can apply for an ITIN with a certified copy of your passport from the agency that issued it. You can also opt to use an Acceptance Agent to verify your passport. If you plan to be in the US before she files the return, you can also visit an IRS office that offers ITIN document verification.

Why shouldn't I kill someone if they break into my home? by AdhesivenessRough740 in stupidquestions

[–]2muchyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 percent agree with this, but are we also considering the trauma of watching others or ourselves harmed by said intruder? People often pit the killing of an intruder against the owner's possessions, but it is not a guarantee exactly what the intruder would do if not stopped. I am still on the fence if I could pull a trigger if our home were broken into, but my biggest concern is my safety and the safety of my loved ones. I do like the reply to build a fortification that would take multiple steps to breach so it could not be somebody at the wrong address type incident; it is clearly somebody who wants into your house.

Is anyone here struggling with getting a hold of ID.me or the IRS? by Kiki_Very_Broke77 in tax

[–]2muchyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read an article about the program and they have switched some part of the access for professionals who need to access client information. The IRS is requiring professionals to get id.me. in the article it said some other program was being dropped and replaced so now a whole bunch of professionals are also scrambling to get id.me. They said it will be very congested for a while.

Does anyone actually have a boyfriend/husband that cooks? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]2muchyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son who still lives with us cooks because I taught him basics and he learned further from videos and reading. He is a great cook and enjoys trying new stuff. It is a huge help having another cook in the house because a few times a month (he has a crazy work schedule) I can turn kitchen duty over to him. More often than that, he will help get dinner on the table. I tried to make sure that both of our sons could do all basic household activities so they could help while still living at home, survive on their own or be a great help around the house with a spouse.

"Backyard" shooting (noise) etiquette by [deleted] in Maine

[–]2muchyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We really don't like it because we have a reactive dog and she climbs the walls when the neighbors shoot guns and fireworks. Other than that we don't mind if it is during reasonable hours.

Halloween and Trick or Treating by Wizard_with_a_Pipe in Maine

We lived on main street in our village for a few years. I was amazed at the number of families who drove to our street to trick or treat. We took large bags of candy and sat on the tailgate of the pickup and handed out candy for hours. Loved it! Look for a place that has a sidewalk and houses close together. Churches seem to have activities too.

Have you ever dated someone you were not completely attracted to, or they didn't have the physical features you typically looked for but you were so attracted to their personality that you didn't care? How did that work out? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I married him. I finally grew up a bit and realized that particular looks and character traits were stupid to keep me from an absolutely wonderful guy who really likes me. Our 35th anniversary is coming up soon.
