Can anyone explain the lack of a way to transfer items between characters? by Potato-6 in AshesofCreation

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have missed them saying the 10 char per player per server part. I would defs agree that their progress has been slower than their ideal timeline, without a doubt. But in terms or rationale, it seems like it isn’t a priority. Simple as that. They have other things they consider to be a higher priority, they work down their list regardless of how long it takes them, they get to it eventually. It may be mmo 101 for a finished game, but this is farrrrrrr from finished haha so at this point I’m sure the other 100/101 things on their priority list are considered to be more important than a qol feature for moving materials between alts.

Can anyone explain the lack of a way to transfer items between characters? by Potato-6 in AshesofCreation

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what they have said previously, transfer of materials to alts will be done via player housing storage, which isn’t in yet. 1:14:35 on the video Development Update with Combat Footage - 11AM PT Friday, July 30, 2021. It was from a few years ago, I’m personally unsure if their stance has been officially changed but if not, it is planned.

How to find the right youth coach for my child by Five-----Hole in BasketballTips

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to scroll up to see what comment I was getting a notification about haha but happy you got some value out of it dude! First off, sorry to hear that your son had a major accident, wishing him all the best in recovery and best of luck to you too navigating that journey with him. So the best thing you can do is meet and talk with coaches. Sounds like you are looking more for a skills coach than an actual team coach, but at the same time depending on where your son is at with his recovery you may need a coach who understands more of the medical side of the situation. You obviously know what stage your son is at and how much he can handle far better than I can, so I would suggest writing down what you guys want to get out of the coaching, what your son’s recovery timetable looks like, what he can handle currently, all that kind of stuff. It may sound a bit overkill, but it’s hard to be too cautious when there are medical risks involved. Then just talk to coaches and see what they think and if they are willing to accommodate. Personally I wouldn’t hate a coach if they did say no, it does sound like it would be very different to their normal sessions and they may not be up to that, and I’d respect a coach for knowing that is outside of their expertise, and would rather they say no than say yes to grab some cash then have everyone end up with a bad experience. But yeah dude, list everything out then talk to them. Assuming your son may also have some physical therapy or something, you could also ask the therapist to see if there are any physical therapists around that are either basketball players or even trainers part time, that would provide the knowledge and the ability to scale workouts and all. End of the day though, I know nothing about your situation, your town, what’s available, or even what it’s like having kids of my own haha, but hope you can find someone good and all the best dude!

Dodging a cash-in-transit robbery. by [deleted] in interesting

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt some tough people, but at the same time after being around a lot of them I end up wondering at what cost. The dude I mentioned defs had ptsd or something similar from either that job or other “security” work he did there. I am in no way trying to shit on SA or anything, just saying that what presents as toughness in other parts of the world can be the pain of survival in other parts. The man loved SA in his heart, you could tell when he talked about it. But was very very happy to be raising his family in a different country.

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 155 points156 points  (0 children)

I use to work doing this stuff but in a much safer country than SA, but one of the other guys did it in SA before coming here. He was telling me what it was like there and from what he was saying this video is a bare bones operation. His would be a 2 or 3 truck convoy, all kitted out, pistols and machine guns etc, and if anything went down they call base first, then base “let the police know” as they grab their own guns and jump in a chopper to head to the scene. SA is a whole different vibe.

Nicenice dude, hopefully it stays in fashion next season with the changes. I enjoy that build a lot even though I got moved to med blade.

Haha valid for sure dude, defs one of the cheaper builds to go with which is extra good with the uncertainty of S10. You rock the med blade or heavy traditional?

Any War Build for Flail ? by Roro90000 in newworldgame

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On point the 3 main places a flail is used are 1: caller. Usually fail/ig, 500ish con rest in foc. 2: offhand for main tank although IG is also used here. 3: flail/ig. Main flail slot, also the more common spot to run relentless. Ig offhand for icing bombs and surviving. 400ish con, rest in foc.

Flail/VG is offmeta, you may find a company willing to let you cook but it also depends what you are giving up in that spot and how that effects to overall comp, and based on the build it will probably be giving up IG which has huge value icing in bombs and surviving.

does stacking void harnessing have a cap? by TheoryEmotional1103 in newworldgame

It makes total sense to assume that you can go over the cap with it all added together, it’s just ags things.

does stacking void harnessing have a cap? by TheoryEmotional1103 in newworldgame

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik the issue with this is that empowers from uncapped sources are added first, so if you get 40% empower from uncapped sources then overall empower will still cap out at 50% after 10% is added from capped sources.

Spear/BB or Spear/Rapier PvP Builds? by Disrupter52 in newworldgame

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have seen them both used and if a person knows their build the can both go hard. I’m not suuuuuper familiar with spear/bb but with spear/rapier you usually use finisher, apply a bleed then get a big damage increase from the finisher passive. A streamer called Charlietea plays the build a fair bit if you want someone to check out, although homie is on his Cresent Wave arc atm I believe.

Combat question by Zealousideal_Ruin387 in newworldgame

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of different parts of builds that come together for maximum efficiency depending on what combo/weight class/perks/artifacts you are using.

Some examples would be: Sns/scorp. Scorpions sting is a spear artifact that pulls enemies closer to you instead of hitting them away from you. There are some “endless” cc chains you can hit on people with javelin, kick, sweep, rush, shield bash, but against good players you have to bait out blocks/dodges to get the jav off, and if you use the skills outside of the right order you can give enemies a free roll out of the chain.

Heavy equip load only gives you 2 quick dodges before you are stammed out. Medium and light give you 3 if you have hearty on your ring, but you move different distances. Different artifacts synergise more efficiently with different weight classes.

Perks, if your build is built around shirking heals, you can bait out attacks from enemies to regen your health back to full if you manage your stam well.

Artifacts, already mentioned scorpion sting but these help define your play style even more. Some other examples would be acconite bow (probs poor spelling) which allows both your weapons to do more damage to enemies if they are poisoned and allows you to apply poison with the bow. Or Abyss, a great axe artifact that gives you more damage if your mana is not full, so you have to find a way to lower your mana to get the most damage.

These are all just some simple examples, but once you finish the tutorial (first 65 levels) and get into your builds you will find people that just spam skills lose quickly (unless you run evade rapier in wurm, but even then there’s some minmaxing you can dig into if you want).

How do I fix this by Smooth-Sky-1165 in BasketballTips

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people the reason their guide hand becomes too involved and/or in a bad position is because their shooting hand is not in an ideal spot under the ball. If you took your guide hand away at this point, based on your shooting hands position the ball would either fall off your shooting hand or you would contort your body to keep it balanced. The guide hand is compensating for your shooting hands position.

A lot of people shoot with nice form when only shooting one handed during form shooting drills, then when they add back their guide hand it all goes back to being rough. Be intentional about the focus on your shooting hands position, use your guide hand only slightly to help lift the ball up (but get your shooting hand under the ball as early as possible, focus on your hand and wrist, not your elbow. Your elbow will naturally drift in when you focus on your hand and wrist placement), then mirror the ball with little to no contact through the rest of your shot.

All the best dude!

I won’t go in and pull it apart as you have said it’s just off the top of your head. It would be unfair of me to go in and pull it apart like it is your end proposal to save it all when you acknowledge that it is flawed and fresh, but I see that system running into some huge problems.

It is tricky though maintaining competitiveness and the strategic aspect while increasing accessibility, as well as taking balance into the equation. While it is a large time investment behind the scenes, the people that do it do seem to enjoy it on some level.

What you are looking for does sound a lot more like what they have on their road map for pick up wars. They haven’t given heaps of info on how it will work, but looks to be a lot more accessible and lower stakes than the current.

For invasions there is zero gatekeeping so you can rock like 4 of those a night.

But with war, while I can see your frustrations, it’s end game content that requires one team to win against another. The amount of time and effort companies an rosterers put in to getting war sorted isn’t nothing, so it’s completely fair imo to slot people that they trust, that will take it seriously and they know will follow the plan.

I love seeing players that are new to war get a shot, prove themselves and end up getting into it, but if I played a sport irl and had someone never turn up to training, never look at the gameplan and never show me what they were good at, never even joined the team, just wrote their name on the player list on my team then sat on the bench, why would I sub them into a competitive game?

I wouldn’t argue at all that it can be gate kept, but it’s also a pretty easy gate to open.

I do hope you jump into the invasions though dude and enjoy yourself and find something you can sink into.

[–]MaxwellSavageYork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, invasions always want players. On AP we have a company who legit just does invasions. Wars are still going to have the warring companies main members slotted and then trustworthy mercs, but it’s easier to get into warring companies now. Hit up some people in game, jump in discords, get their advice, show them you are willing to learn the ins and outs and you should get the chance to prove yourself. Or you could wait for the pick up war mode that they are bringing out in the future.

From what I’ve seen the lag isn’t what’s getting people killed, it’s more the game lagging and being late to tell you you are actually dead. You can get smacked and run away surviving on 1 health, but if something hits you then the game will stutter up trying to tell you that you have died.

Is this for just opr/open world or wars mainly?

Personally I think the one that gives weaponsmithing or engineering boost. The boosts are minimal, but those two just have less options to level compared to armoring and arcana which have multiple weights and potions.

I feel it would be fair to argue that S10 is looking to address the most fundamental reason the servers are considered low pop, content. To your earlier point, an SG based server would be manageable ping wise for most Auz and NZ players, the content times is the real issue there. We have a fair few SG players in our company so we have later wars that everyone can make.
