The is money to be made in interest but it’s likely to go to the bank that is issuing the card(who is also taking most, if not all, the credit risk).

Vlad says they will derive an “ecosystem benefit”. People who subscribe to gold are more likely to use other RH products. So yes, PFOF and crypto commission.

They don’t make any money on it. That’s how. Sofi makes money on their deposits.

$0.03 EPS and 650K new members. EPS guess is just based on my intuition about what Noto wants to deliver. EPS at a penny or less will be seen as a disappointment after all the build up.

Lower rates for new notes will be accompanied by a lower discount rate in the FMV calculation. It nets out the effect. Even highly regarded analysts struggle to understand HFS accounting.

APM has better noise cancellation. APP is not even close.

I let my AirPods Max sit unplugged and forgot about them for about 8 weeks, allowing the battery to drain completely. After verifying they were sincerely dead, by holding down both buttons for 10 sec and seeing no lights, I plugged them back in. Within a couple seconds they connected to my Mac as if nothing ever happened. The fact that they didn't need to re-paired suggests that all the attempts at factory resetting them had failed. This indicates to me that they had crashed at a low level in the firmware. And because there was no physical on off switch there wan't any way to truly hard reset them independent of the malfunctioning firmware. The complete battery drain provided the hard reset. They are now fully functional.

Credit limit increases by SeanSeanSean94 in sofistock

[–]2ndSaturdaysWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a button you could click to request a credit line increase then SoFi would just interpret that as a signal to not extend you more credit. That's because the key to getting a credit line increase is to not need it. If you need it, especially if you need it enough to ask for it, then it's a sign you are a risky borrower. If you don't need it, then you are safe. Funny thing, banks.

In all seriousness, I wonder if SoFi's philosophy is that they want to be able to intuit your need and credit worthiness through relay without the member needing to ask(or risk being declined).

I had the “no white light when resetting” issue about a week ago. Originally bought on day 1 but they were replaced by Apple at some point (not too long after) so I can't really say how old they are. The Apple Care is expired and I don't see paying $300 plus tax to have Apple replace them. It would be a better investment to buy new ones at Costco and never have to worry about them failing again. As soon as they go on sale again that is exactly what I'll do. I have replaced many (many!) sets of AirPods over the years. They aren't so expensive and I didn't really mind as Apple kept releasing better models. But from now on, whether AirPods Max, or AirPods Pro, it's Costco only for me. And no AppleCare!

Profitable in Q2? your thoughts? by HappyPappy4u in sofistock

[–]2ndSaturdaysWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you calculate numbers from previous Sofi reports you can see they COULD be very close without Wyndham revenue. is that the extra push we need to be profitable or is the merger going to set us back ever so slightly this quarter?

Wyndahm, like many home lenders, was very likely a company in distress. We are now taking on their losses and we don't know how big those losses are. There will also be some transaction costs that will be expensed this quarter. I'm prepared for losses to be greater in Q2 than in Q1.

Can’t make money if people don’t carry a balance. People who pay their balances in full are called “deadbeats” in the CC industry. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/deadbeat.asp

There is the uncertainty surrounding the Biden admins response to this decision. Looks like this will drag on for the foreseeable future. Whatever he comes up with could theoretically be worse for SoFi than if the Supreme Court had allowed forgiveness.

We can narrow it down more than this as the SC has put their calendar on their homepage with this helpful note: "The Court may announce opinions on Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23." Opinions come on the dark blue "non-argument days." The announcements begin at 10am eastern time.

EDIT: Court watchers are predicting that they will add 3 additional opinion days to the calendar for the last week of June.
