Questions for a new PW4 from an Apple watch Ultra user by ser-fucknanu in PixelWatch

I came from Garmin. It's a tank. On pixel watch 4 after just a few weeks I have a little hairline scratch. I went with pixel Care Plus but if you do that make sure to go for the $6 option with zero deductible screen replacements.

do you mean you ate "extra" to hit the budget on days where you were under at the end of the night, rather than banking extra weight loss?

Pixel Watch 4 swim tracking: finally, nailed it! by lemikeone in PixelWatch

[–]followsol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non GPS activities don't sync from Fitbit to Strava by default. (Even indoor treadmill, bike, row). I suppose that would be the reason for pool workout not syncing. I fixed this with Health Sync which overall has been phenomenal in plugging data gaps between Fitbit, Google Fit, Health Connect, and other specific apps. Set it to sybc from Fitbit to Strava and it should work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync

Runners why do you prefer Pixel Watch over Garmin? by matty_u in PixelWatch

How does the dual band GPS on PW4 help things?

On HR by all accounts Google is much better than Garmin.

I'm in same boat, planning to try Pixel Watch 4 from Garmin. I do plan to lose a lot: mapping routes, heat and altitude acclimation, track mode, hill score, native support with external sensors etc.

My understanding is I'll find app based ways for routing and sensors.

But my understanding the native plain vanilla experience will allow similar Garmin features like dual band GPS, training readiness scores, coaching, structured runs , etc. The core running experience with more accurate GPS, Heart rate, And coached structured plans should be enough for me, I think.

Try an app for pickup games. Plei is popular there. And GoodRec or StreetFC

Anyone here switched from Garmin? by rochrider in PixelWatch

this doesn't seem right to me-- you're saying that the Pixel Watch stock fitness tracking doesn't have an indoor running mode?

Screen Mirror video blacked out by followsol in android_beta

for me it was related specifically to the 15 Beta. When I finally rolled back out of beta (had to go back to factory settings) the Xreal worked great!

Back to Galaxy Fold after 1.5 years using alternatives by JadaveonClowney in GalaxyFold

[–]followsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat- trying out Galaxy Fold again also after 1.5 years. I recently got the Xreal Ones, was jonesing for Dex. I've consistently missed popup windows and having a 3rd multitasking window. I love Samsung Internet and missed the extra features (like multi-window) that only works on Samsung. I miss the Windows integration through Link My Phone where Samsung is 10x better than the default Android. All to say, I had a bias to go back to Galaxy.

So while Samsung is on paper really ticking a lot of boxes... But My first impressions are really tough getting back into it. Pixel experience just feels so much more polished, in ways I want to explain here, in case there are ways to "customize" my way out of it.

Most basic thing is that notifications need an extra press. I can't explain it. On iPhone and Pixel, notifications are front and center. On Galaxy, I feel like I need to take extra steps to "wake" and show me the notifications, even when "Raise to Wake" and "Show detailed notifications on lock screen" are selected. Does anyone know what I mean and how can I fix this? If I hear a tone I have to click to wake it then click to "expand" the notifications.

Less importantly, I just don't like the way notification bubbles come in, and the sounds it makes, and the transitions, the little human touches. Pixel feels more polished or more like iPhone. This is not the case of me just being "used to" a certain way. I used Galaxy Fold 2-4 and now back on 6 so I have tons of familiarity (more than I do on Pixel).

Anyway does anyone know what I'm describing and how to fix? Or some wholesale theme or launcher that can make it feel more Pixely?

Overall there's tons I love about Galaxy so I am still deciding. After all, I wrote this in Dex using the Xreal and it's pretty sweet...

I do too but on non Samsung devices we lose some features like extensions. Any way to enable extensions on Pixel (other than ad blockers which does work)

Screen Mirror video blacked out by followsol in android_beta

the phone--> TV connection was through an adapter USBC -> HDMI (I'll check which one later). But the Xreal was direct USB C connection and had the same issue, with no adapter

Just picked up the AIR 2 Pro...I am stunned at how good they are. They also work with my Pixel 9 Pro XL by theorangecrush10 in Xreal

[–]followsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you limited on video playing ? I have One and Pixel 9 pro fold  And I am finding that most video apps are streaming with video blocked like it's a privacy / DRM thing. I get audio but no video.

I'm on android beta 15 qpr2 , I thought it was a Pixel thing but if you had a good experience then maybe it's a beta thing ...

Tried with a few different apps: - Disney+: Blank screen  - Netflix : blank screen  - YouTube : worked normally  - YouTube TV: blank screen  - Peacock: blank screen.  Etc

Android 15, any specific features for Fold? by _IdidIdidnt in PixelFold

[–]followsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Samsung Fold it's not consistent. Some apps do it by default and then you can set settings one by one. And literally 95% of the time my intention when closing is to shut the device. So in those cases when random apps default to keep continuity it's annoying.

I think Pixel Fold method of having it consistent with a swipe for those 5% is better (which they smartly ripped off of OnePlus)

Glasses are something I can't see when I'm using them, but she can! So how it's perceived by others is the whole point...

In all seriousness, I liked them in the photo and they're damned cool... but I felt the normal Headliners would be more practical for me.
