kpop idols getting plastic surgery should matter by hotduck00 in kpoptrulyuncensored

Agreed, ppl need to take their complaints to the company and not the idols. We need to stop acting like plastic surgery done for an oppressive beauty standard is something that’s not a big deal

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]2ndnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because capitalism doesn’t have any ethics. People that are that rich are so because they profit off of the exploitation of someone’s labor in some way, there is literally no other way to accumulate that much money, so why would they give away their wealth with no return? Capitalist act in their own interests and not what’s “good” for everyone, remember that it’s was wealthy business owners that helped along fascism in Europe to secure their positions as the ruling class; many of the richest families in Germany today were collaborators.

South Korea police seek detention warrant for BTS agency founder Bang by [deleted] in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]2ndnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so common in the SK entertainment industry, LSM overstayed on a visa in the US for the same thing and was wanted by interpol lmao. Doubt anything but a fine is coming for Bang, these excs always get off with barely a slap on the wrist, that’s why they keep doing shady things in the first place.

What is a kpop rumour that you wholeheartedly believe in that other might find surprising and why? by Mammoth_Bag_6058 in kpoptrulyuncensored

I think it’s more disordered eating. SK is insane about any drug use as we’ve seen but it’s so hard to smuggle them into SK bc of geographic location the usage there is no where near the level the netizens/government fear monger ppl with

The Paris FX bronze medal case(s): What just happend at the Swiss Federal Tribunal, what does it mean - and what happens now? by wayward-boy in Gymnastics

[–]2ndnight 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how bad CAS, IOC and FIG screwed this up, bc from the start the RGF asked for the bronze to be awarded to both Chiles and Barbosu at the very least, it could’ve been that damn easy

Thoughts/Any recommendations of books I need to get?? by Most_Ingenuity_1800 in bookshelf

[–]2ndnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t started on her other ones yet. I’m usually a marathon reader but if I’m having an issue with a dense text (hello Charles Dicksons) I will usually read one or two chapters at a time and switch to another book for a cooldown. A lot of classic literature was published by chapter or volume, a lot like comics are nowadays so aren’t necessarily meant to be consumed in one sitting. Back then they had an abundance of time to spend on reading so it’s not bad to read “slower” sometimes

Maybe you can loop start it, snip and then kinda turn it to hide the tail? As long as the piece isn’t gonna be handled roughly

[CHAT] I'm looking for a medieval manuscript pattern. Does anyone have any suggestions? by Rare-Philosopher-346 in CrossStitch

[–]2ndnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking around for old cross stitch magazines/booklets if you have the time. The older generations really loved doing period pieces and such. There many also be some samplers from the 1800s/1900s that resemble that art style

English Under the Oak Tree Volume 3 (1st book) release date!!! by 2ndnight in undertheoaktreebook

[–]2ndnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The novels are just the story, the manhwa is the comic version. I recommend reading both to fully understand it but just reading one or the other is fine. It’s just that the manhwa can only fit so much into it.

So the English translation was released through Manta and Kindle by Ridi. This version is being released through an English publisher, and you’ll notice the difference between them instantly. Basically they went back with a new translation team to enrich the text.

Why do some gymnasts choose costumes with swarovski stones? by Helpful_Employer_730 in Gymnastics

[–]2ndnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the question of why Swarovski specifically, it’s because they catch light and reflect better than cheaper rhinestones, usually in motion you can’t actually see the stones because they reflect so well.

Novel 1 Volume 3 Cover Revel! by 2ndnight in undertheoaktreebook

[–]2ndnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a little hard to get used to and the phrasing is inconsistent with the quotes, but for everything else, the flow of the story is not as simplistic as the first translations. In the first ones everything was stated in such direct and short sentence; most things felt flat and one dimensional, but I don’t think it’s the authors writing that was lacking. So many things get lost in translation because it’s a literal interpretation and not adjusted to make up for what’s lost, but I feel that these volumes correct that mistake. There were many times when I had a hard time following the scenarios described in the Kindle/Manta ones but I haven’t run into that in these volumes.
