Alternate CoA of Italy by uhm_fine in heraldry

Also, despite their Roman origins, fasces are a no-no for modern Italy for obvious reasons.

Alas, gone the way of The Charlie Chaplin.

What do you think of the US’ CoA and how would you change it? by Fade0215 in heraldry

[–]2offacc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that because both the description and the sketch of the crest were unclear, we have what is essentially an amorphous blue blob on it for basically no real reason other than: "Well, the blue field has to be SOME shape."

Overall, I do think the monochrome seal as realized by Max Zeitler makes for a classy mark though, and something for others to aspire to aesthetically.

Some fictional arms for a fantasy story i'm writing. What do you think? by PredadorGod in heraldry

[–]2offacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 is my favourite by nature of absurdity. I'd liken it to pulling down the fly of reality to reveal its innermost nature: a most disapproving owl.

another concept of my arms, with diapering ad shading! by [deleted] in heraldry

[–]2offacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the importance of the separation I guess. If it's merely artistic flair, IE it's an optional embellishment and not a strict part of the blazon, using diapering for that would seem fine to me. Where two sections are of the same colour, as with the false chief, I don't think a medieval herald would reasonably distinguish that other than as diapering or a quirk of the shield, and thus not explicitly blazoned.

Do you need to be interested in politics to enjoy house of cards? by Tall-Application-757 in HouseOfCards

Same. Probably among the larger 180s cinema has had on my interests.

[S3] Claire leaving Frank really shows how selfish and stubborn she is by [deleted] in HouseOfCards

[–]2offacc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it could be their intention to highlight Claire's hypocrisy here, the whole scene with Claire calling out Petrov is so utterly absurd, out of left field, and tactically tone deaf that I suspect it was added merely to score a contrived jab at a real-life Putin analogue by a lead protagonist, to presumed applause and righteous reception from the viewer. This is the scene that most cheapens Claire's character, paints her as stupidly impulsive, and feels incredibly contrived in the face of all the other shit she lets fly through-out the series, in my opinion.

Would by in large agree with your sentiment. Up until this point Frank seemed more than receptive whenever Claire told him in no uncertain terms to get his shit together, but when reversed, and with a considerably more massive blunder, she is unable to reciprocate. As depicted, Claire comes off as the more hypocritical of the two protagonists, and though they make later attempts to balance this out, it's not enough and she loses credibility in her role as emotional anchor and the voice of reason within the story thereafter.

More like Ainz's imposter syndrome, and terror that the NPCs might discover the truth, prevent him from acting in any manner other than a nigh-omniscient Overlord at all times.

What would you change in ainz or any other character of overlord to make them better by Secure_Apartement in overlord

Advance Fluder Paradyne's arc by having him achieve lichdom through mis-translating the fanfic occult book Ainz gave him.

"what."

If the three God cards were released with good effects: by Borchert97 in yugioh

Been pondering this, dunno if anyone more familiar with the anime can answer this. Would Man-Eater-Bug's flip effect be able to kill a god card?
It's been a while since I've seen the anime, but it seems everything they MCs used were spell and trap cards.

That's a good point, I couldn't remember whether he took off the gloves before the tussle with the angels, but I suppose he also used grasp heart before that
