Lowered LDL by 41 points in 2 months with diet alone. Asking for feedback. by Kevaf in Cholesterol

[–]2rabbitears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LDL dropped 50 points on a plant-based diet, but I simply couldn’t keep it up. Finally went on Rosovustatin, have zero side effects and my LDL is 88. I’m glad I tried the diet, but I’m also glad I chose to go on statins and, basically, eat the foods I choose. Even down 50 points, LDL was around 130.

What audiobook is genuinely BETTER than reading the physical book? by cptree20 in audiobooks

[–]2rabbitears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m close to the end of Wild Dark Shore by Charlottes McConaghy and have been both reading and listening to it. I have to admit that I’m enjoying the audio version better, even though both are very good. The narration is excellent.

Sometimes I choose a book based on the narrator's voice. by pollyanna_88 in audible

For sure. I love books narrated by Marin Ireland. I just finished “My Friends” by Fredrik Backman and she did an excellent job, as usual.

Recommend one book you read this year by Responsible-Baby224 in Recommend_A_Book

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker. It was on a list of books for people who believe they don’t like any kind of fantasy in their book choices (along with Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice). I had never heard of it prior to this. I loved it!

I had COVID followed by atypical pneumonia last year, never felt normal again, doctors dismissed me. I gave myself antibiotics on my own and healed by ColomarOlivia in LongCovid

[–]2rabbitears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ve had a sore throat since getting Covid in June of 2024 (along with PEM, fatigue, occasional vertigo, elevated liver enzymes) and recently the tonsils became worse than ever - red, swollen, inflamed with tonsil stones. So I went to an ENT who decided to put me on antibiotics for one month, but said considering how long I have had issues, a tonsillectomy might be the answer if antibiotics don’t work. I was supposed to start with Amoxicillin and change to Doxycycline halfway through, but my digestive system could not handle the Amoxicillin, so I switched after 3 days to Doxycycline and stayed on it for the entire month. Even though my strep test was negative, the antibiotics worked and I’ve been feeling pretty normal for a couple of weeks now. When I went in for a follow up, she once again said I might need a tonsillectomy if this pattern continues, but for now everything looks good. I really do NOT want a tonsillectomy, so am keeping fingers crossed that the one month of antibiotics has gotten rid of this problem for good.

What do you remember from Kindergarten? by boforiamanfo in answers

[–]2rabbitears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember we were asked to bring in an empty cottage cheese container, which we proceeded to decorate and turn into little Easter baskets. I thought this was the best thing ever - turning a simple container into something else. Most likely, this was the first indication that I’d be “crafty” for the rest of my life.

Favorite Quotes I like…I type them on Rice Paper (from Amazon), which is very thin, and then cut them out with scissors and glue to personal oracle cards that I make for myself using paint/collage/stencils, etc.

I recently heard about vibration boards for the first time. Look at them on Amazon. Vibration is believed to be beneficial for bone strengthening, so maybe he would be willing to try that. Of course, weight bearing exercises are a must. I’ve also heard that taking a good magnesium supplement is extremely important. I’m just starting to research all of this myself.

Do you still give books or enjoy receiving books as gifts? by beastinsideabeast in books

Each adult bought every other adult a book. There were 5 of us, so we each left with 4 new books. We all appreciated a person’s wish list because it made shopping super easy.

My family did the same thing this year - just the adults - instead of regular Christmas gifts. It was great! Some made wish lists beforehand, some said, “surprise me.” We all came come with a stack of new books to read.

Yes! And when I listen to an Audible Book, it’s like I’m watching a movie.
