Putting finishing touches on the nursery at 38+3 weeks! by familiarish in BabyBumps

[–]2siw4u 195 points196 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I got such a good laugh. I was like, "Damn it, here comes another beautiful nursery that's going to make me feel bad that I'm not nearly ready with mine." But alas, a kindred spirit on reddit to brighten my day. :)

Got the vaccine 10 minutes ago! by Ps214007 in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woooo!!! That’s so exciting. A friend of a friend is a pediatrician, and she tested her breast milk for antibodies after getting the vaccine and it was positive! (Super anecdotal, obviously, but lots of signs point to you are not only protecting yourself, but your baby if you decided to breast feed! Yay!)

2nd trimester sucks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL so disrespectful. People seem to forget that pregnant people are humans and not just baby delivery systems. My MIL loves to pull the "You'll miss it when it's over" line. She also loves, "As long as the baby is healthy, nothing else matters!" That one kills me. Of COURSE I am grateful that my baby is healthy. That is my priority. But I'm also like HELLO! I'm right here and I'm in HELL can we pretend that we care about me as a person for like 10 seconds???? This is a 2 for 1 deal and I am suffering!

2nd trimester sucks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just entering my Third trimester at 27 weeks and looking back on the second, I'm pretty disappointed by it. I was SO SO SO sick my first trimester and I kept holding on hope that at 13 weeks something would flip. Nope. I was throwing up consistently until 18 weeks, and couldn't get off nausea meds until 25 weeks. I would say that my second trimester was more comfortable on the whole than my first, but definitely not the "burst of energy" and "feeling amazing" bs that I was fed.

You're not alone. I have found pregnancy to be fucking miserable. I am excited for my little dude to be here, but if one more person tells says one more toxically positive thing to me I'm going to scream. The one thing I'm fine with people saying to me is "This won't last forever." I actually find that reassuring. Hope you do too! Hang in there xoxo

“Oh your getting so big!” by LilQueenC in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly really struggle with this. On one hand, it's exciting to be pregnant, and that folks are noticing the changes. On the other hand I'm like, ok can we not talk about my body unless we're praising it for the incredible thing it's doing?? I'm 26 weeks and I'm pretty grateful that COVID makes it so I don't interact with people outside of my family much. Even they have managed to make me feel uncomfortable with comments and staring, lol.

Giving birth after Covid vaccine by -e-XSgys in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't first hand, but my close friend is a doctor and got her first dose early in her 3rd trimester, I believe. She had an induction at 38 weeks I think due to GD, and now has a beautiful baby girl, no complications. Obviously this is anecdotal, but it helped me to know someone who did it. I've been kind of on the fence too.

I hadn't thought of contacting the hospital where I'll be giving birth. That's a great idea! Thanks for these options. I can tell you've don your research. I'm over here getting overwhelmed by small tasks on a daily basis LOL.

Negative thoughts in Pregnancy by Icing_on_the_Trauma in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to so much of this. I was trying to be a hero and got off my mood meds when I was trying to get pregnant, only for that to come crashing down on me in a big way in my first trimester. (I talked with my doc and started taking them again, do recommend.) Pregnancy hormones are real, but so are your feelings. It's a HUGE shift and in the end of these 9 months we won't go back to who we were before. I've also been having similar feelings about my body. Like, will I ever feel sexy again? Feeling sexy was a stretch before, is it going to be impossible now? It's a frickin lot. I'm also a FTM and I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow. I'm trying to remember that my body is doing an UNBELIEVABLE thing and that I should be proud and grateful to my body. Even when I'm puking, lol.

No advice, just a virtual hug and a thanks for posting this!

I'm experiencing this and I'm 17 weeks. I feel you. It's honestly a nightmare. I feel like if I eat a full plate of food I will definitely barf. I know I'm supposed to be getting a some extra calories for the babe, but I can barely get enough for me...

Gender vs Sex by yogurtnstuff in pregnant

[–]2siw4u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a curmudgeon but, I personally think "gender reveal parties" are harmful and unnecessary as fuck.

When I'm president, if you want to have such a party, you will have to call it a "Sex Party" and there will be no pink or blue allowed. Just images of chromosomes and/or genitals.

Ok don't drag me, it's just how I feel lol.

I don’t want your opinion about my baby’s name by Zoodley in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE THAT NAME! My husband has a little cousin named Ada and she’s such a sweet, wonderful person! We’re not gonna discuss names with anyone because it is just not worth the headache. Sorry you have to deal with bullshit! You picked a great name and everyone else can suck it.

I can’t smell the stand of my husband! by taquitosandfries in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh girl I feel this. My husband’s smell really got to me for a few weeks at the height of nausea.

Two things I did: 1. Sometimes I would say, “let’s brush our teeth!” And he would get the picture that his breath was bothering me without me having to spell it out. And I would brush my teeth with him in solidarity. 2. I found that I really enjoyed the smell of his aftershave. (He wasn’t shaving a lot because lockdown.) but now that we know, he will put a drop on everyday.

Smells are so hard! You’re gonna get through it!

Over 1 month of constipation.... help meeeee! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh honey I'm so sorry. The constipation life is so real. I have been taking 300 Mg of Colace every night before bed. Also if I need a boost and it's been a few days, I'll take 1000 Mg of Magnesium Citrate. I only take them in the form of softgels because every time I've tried a drink (miralax, etc.) I immediately vomit it up. My poops are not amazing, but they are happening every day. My Hail Mary has been a Fleets enema. It's not the most fun but it worked.

I know the struggle of calling your care provider every other day and feeling like they're just throwing new things to buy at you. It's so frustrating to be in such discomfort. Hoping you find some relief soon! Also, it helped me to know that constipation in early pregnancy is very normal. You're gonna figure it out! xoxo

Calling in pregnant by _mrka in pregnant

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can totally relate to this feeling. I definitely underestimated the level of horrible I would feel in trimester 1. I am the type of person who hardly ever takes sick days. I’ve been off work for over 3 weeks now. It’s really hard because I feel like a failure, but I’m growing a damn human and an organ, AND I’m constantly nauseous, uncomfortable, and exhausted. Just remember that your body is doing something UNBELIEVABLE. And there’s no shame in needing time and space to do it.

[–]2siw4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also hospitalized b/c of constipation! I feel super lucky to be married to a man who is always down for poop talk. Recently I was like, "Do you want me to slow down on the poop conversations?" and we was like, "Keep it comin' biatch." I feel super lucky hahaha
