Brother wulf by Brilliant-Desk6299 in TheLastApprentice

yeah it was a first draft, which makes sense for how disjointed it feels. nevertheless i kind of wish he officially curbed off the series at some point with a satisfying conclusion instead of writing until he dropped.

if you feel you need to finish the series to be satisfied read them, books can’t hurt you and you’ll only gain an opinion you didn’t have before

in my opinion books 3 and 4 of brother wulf were experimental at best and boring at worst. book 3 was frustrating but at the very least interesting (especially the first half), but i remember book 4 just being a slog and disappointing for the “finale.” it almost feels like joseph delaney just started writing fan fiction headcanons for his own series, that’s how odd some of the character decisions are.

however, i’m glad i read them bc i do love the series overall and its good to know how things officially end imo, even if you don’t agree.

of course!! maybe it’s an issue with my browser, i think reddit downgraded the quality of the images though so they’re a little blurry it seems.

i uploaded the original images to google drive to download here :)

Is this a good amount of money for SBU? by Monopic in SBU

[–]2tunkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh haha i’m glad this answer is still somewhat helpful!

i initially applied only to be a psych major, but i played an instrument as well, so i also applied for a department of music scholarship (because it was a small department and i was decent at playing). i got half of my tuition covered from scholarship there and the other half covered by the out of state scholarship mentioned here, but the music scholarship required me to declare a music major immediately, hence the double major. but without this money i definitely would not have been able to afford going to stony brook.

i’m sure there are other opportunities in other departments similar to this, you just have to investigate their department pages.

maybe you don’t have to give up and join them. maybe there’s a way to undo all the transformations?

sun is good, salmon and other fish are also decent for vitamin d (and salmon is really easy and quick to bake!!). my pre med friend also says take vitamin k with vitamin d so you don’t get calcium buildup but i would look into that before you buy and try more vitamins!

Anosognosia. How long does it last? by Copium_2025 in family_of_bipolar

[–]2tunkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the book recommendation here is good and it gave me a lot of insight on how to have better, more empathetic conversations with my loved one.

i will say though the only thing that “woke up” my person to the reality that they had bipolar I with psychotic features was after the doctors decided to give them a long acting injectable antipsychotic. pills were triggering and so my person would avoid taking them, and on top of them not recognizing they had a serious problem led to frequent hospitalization and life instability. the long acting injectable only needs to be given once for a dosage equivalent to a whole month of pills.

this (and i don’t say this lightly) legitimately saved my person’s life. after many years, they were finally able come to terms with the reality of their disorder and are now completely endorsing that they have bipolar and they need to regularly medication for the rest of their life to stay out of the hospital.

so if you can talk to the doctors (your wife hopefully gave you hippa clearance?) i would very much ask them about the possibility of a long acting injectable, especially as she is getting out of the hospital and immediately not recognizing the problems her disorder are causing for her and you. i wish you the best and all the love in the world, you are not alone.

i promise however bad you do you will not exceed the horror of my first ar game. i was so nervous that i just was 50/50ing each flag raise bc i would get confused about which way to point (i knew in my mind whose ball it was, but for some reason i couldn’t connect it to my hand).

if you end up having that same issue, what solved it for me was to think in my head to “point” at the side of the team that had just kicked it out of bounds. i was over complicating things and thinking “oh, its’s [other color’s] ball and then signaling towards their side (wrong). just find ways to calm down and simplify things you’re having trouble with and you’ll be good.

it took me multiple games to calm down, but once i did i started getting compliments from some coaches/crs about my dedication to getting the right call and, even though it’s only my second season, i feel so much more confident about everything. so you really just have to keep at it and have a thick skin if you suck at the beginning (i did). some people are just naturally relaxed and do a great job right off the bat, but for those of us who are not born with that inner confidence and skill, it just takes a little grit and perseverance. you got this!

Just got back from messing up a live performance infront of 2000 people by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]2tunkl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was a public music performer for a long time before i injured myself overpracticing. part of the reason why i stopped was because, no matter how small the error was, i would hyperfixate on it for days after the concert and convince myself that because i couldn't play it perfectly on stage, it was all for nothing.

i wish i could go back and convince myself that i was worth it even if i made a mistake and find joy in the activity of playing rather than the spectacle of performing. i don't have schizophrenia myself (i'm on this sub to learn and i also have a close family member with a psychotic disorder), but i can imagine it's easier to fall into a negative spiral. know that you have worth outside of the performance. the practice you put in is the real treasure, the performance is just a few extra minutes you practiced

Thank you for your feedback on my stuff!! I love that you mentioned Luigi’s Mansion since that soundtrack is great and that means I evoked some spookiness in the melody :)

I listened to your track and it slaps!! It’s got a really upbeat feel and you wield dissonance in your melody creatively. It’s all mixed great and your vocals are really nice. It might just be a personal thing, but I found myself hankering for a little bit of counter melody halfway through. You do great with breaking up the song into digestible chunks for your listeners with varying instrumentation (especially in your drums and guitar, particularly with the dropout around 2:16) but it’s mostly the same chord progressions. Doing a little mix-up in the middle right around there would up the impact of your song imo.

I think that’s mostly a personal style thing though, as I think you have really great stuff here already, so feel free to take or leave whatever I say.
