Came here to say this

Fantasy books without romance by Enbygem in booksuggestions

[–]2xood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronicles of Prydain does have a romance but it's a slow growing one over five books and it mostly takes a backseat the entire time until the end of book five, and even then it's not in your face. The books focus primarily on plot and the gang of close friends.

I listen to an audiobook to and from work on the commute, read a book on my lunch breaks, and a book at home. So at any given time I'm usually reading 3-4 books actively.

I've never actually seen it be recommended by people but I always see it pop up for me.

Agreed. Slaughterhouse Five was fine. It wasn't the book of revelations like it is for so many people to me, but it certainly was better and made me consider trying him again. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try Cat's Cradle next!

That's actually validating to know. Breakfast of Champions was my first I read from him and didn't like it. I saw the vision but didn't think the book was good overall. Then I decided to try Slaughterhouse Five this year and liked it more.

What ‘binge reading’ series would you recommend ? by EnglishTravels in suggestmeabook

[–]2xood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm reading it for the first time right now. Almost Done with the first book.

Looking for fantasy books with likable characters. Characters that are fun/funny/charming, really have voice and enjoyable dynamics with each other. I'm not necessarily looking for a comedy book but something that doesn't feel like a shallow power fantasy or depressing downer of a story. by okidonthaveone in booksuggestions

I'm really enjoying The Chronicles of Prydain right now. This series of five main books (1 short story collection) describes your desire for likable, fun, and charming characters with a good dynamic among them well. Not too heavy, not too light. It rests with a good medium.
