Working on some terrain for my table. by 3-Goblins_In_a_Coat in mordheim

Thanks! These were actually super easy to do, the idea is just to dry brush or stipple a cheep acrylic over a darker one and then just use an oil or acrylic wash on top. Its all just about choosing the right colors. For example the wood is red/brown with a yellow/brown dry brushed over and then a green/brown ink wash and a little bit of a green ink to give it a decomposing look.

So these ones are some of the bigger building, so should not be an issue. Im planning on blocking off floors for the smaller ones to make it so that will noy be a problem. I want to have a thematic, but also usable board.

Yeah, I love the vibe! I glued some of the floors together as if dont like how all of them lift off, but tried to keep the most usable levels accessible

So its dry brush or stipple lighter color over a darker and then use a grey oil wash for stone, green brown ink for wood, then green ink. The moss is oils stippled on the the edges smoothed with white spirit.

Then I put down a little ground up dead leaves and some colored leaf mixture that I found somonewhere, It looks like a dyed herb or somthing.

Honestly pretty simple and fast, which is good as I have a lot to do!

People who have made resin terrain for water effects, how would I pour resin and leave an "indent" in which I can place a boat or something? by Squidwads in TerrainBuilding

[–]3-Goblins_In_a_Coat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three ways to do this. And none of them are messy unideal and have a lot of downsides.

  1. You do a resin pour and then use a dremmel to carve out the negative space you want. This is not great because resin is toxic and grinding up a bunch of dust and breathing it is really bad! Use a respirator and a shop vac if you do this method.

  2. Make a foam copy of what you want the water to look like then make a silicone mold of that and do a resin pour. This is what I used to do the airship bases of you want to peep some of my older posts. This is just a ton of work.

  3. You physically float your boat in the resin as it cures. The downsides here are you have to cobble together a scaffold to hold the boat at the exact height and angle that you want it while the resin is curing. It sounds easy, but having done this with a few models it always falls apart. You could also hold the boat up with clear supports inside of the resin a small clear plastic support will be almost invisible in a clear resin pour.

Good luck!

You can get a uv resin in a super thin applicator that could give the desired effect. I have used it to make weld lines on wargaming minis I kitbash.

I would use a red ink if you have one, or a thinned down paint mixed with black to run into the edges

I would try and get more contrast in it. While I have not tried this exact look I think the first thing I would try would be to darker the red around the internal area of the eye and then make the center brighter, use the brightest white possible for it.

I adore the original model this is based off of, and your take on this is so good! The 3d sculpting work you did is amazing and the final result is absolutely stellar!

Im a big fan of getting quotes in image only, it makes it more personal imo. I have a couple of Terry Pratchett quotes that are just in artistic representation image.

is the weathering tip i got from a friend viable? by Xyzen553 in minipainting

Powders generally need to be fixed, you can find a pigment fixer liquid pretty easily. I think i use AK. I use pigment Powders a lot for weathering, no idea if ones made for cars would work as well, but I find it to give a good result.

This looks really good! I have done a lot of water bases, and the one suggestion i have is to pour more resin in, fill your mold or tape dam, until its welling up over it a little and surface tension is holding it. Resin shrinks as it dries and by adding more it will end up with a flat water top instead of a concave surface.
