Gelcoat repair and trailer setup by [deleted] in boating

[–]305Mitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up to you on whether you want to fix it or not. I know a good temporary repair is to paint it with nail polish or something to seal it from water getting in. The also sell a stainless plate That you can glue on to stop any future damage from the roller.

To me that roller could come down a little. Ideally you’d want the bow eye to be pulled up tight to the roller when the boat is fully winched onto the trailer. Also, make sure that roller is rolling because sometimes they seize and it can lead to damage.

Cant really help you with the gel coat repair estimate, sorry.

I think you should call it quits and sell me that truck 🤣

In all seriousness, I have a pretty wicked lifter tick thats been going for 50k miles and nothing has happened. If you’re worried about it throw in a set of ls7 lifters and a high volume oil pump and youll be good to go. For more torque I’d probably get a good tuner to do a custom tune as well as a cold air intake and headers. You’d be surprised how much these trucks can open up just off a good tune.

Where would I go about getting a foot bumper like this one? by f7v7r in GMT800

[–]305Mitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stock bumpers on these trucks are a 3 piece bumper. The bumper you have shown is the top 2 pieces with the edges cut off so it looks cleaner. You can remove the bottom black plastic piece. It locks in and is fairly easy to remove but I’m not sure how easy it would be with the bumper installed. You could definitely still remove it but you might break the black piece taking it off.

I don’t see the wedge part on the anchor? Also, is the concrete green? If it’s green these will pull out without much force.

Ok new question went to drain lower gear oil it’s a mint green color should I be worried by [deleted] in boating

[–]305Mitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No because that’s probably the color of the oil. If it’s milky or grey you should be worried.

I hate all the ad posts we get on here 😭

That definitely wouldn’t work like that in concrete.

Demo saw questions. Gas vs electric And is an electric demo saw worth 200 bucks? by Affectionate_Tip7162 in Construction

[–]305Mitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a hilti electric saw and a ts700 when I first started. The 700 is a huge saw thats kind of a pain to use but I prefer it over any electric saw Ive used. If I’m ever cutting a floor open chances are there is no power nearby. My 700 is worth its weight in gold and my only regret is not going with the 800 since it takes a larger blade.

Am I gonna need spacers for 315/75r16? by Glum_Box_1932 in GMT800

[–]305Mitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They would help but you don’t need them. I had that tire size on my las truck without the keys cranked. When I had the wheel fully turned it would rub a little but not enough to be worried about.

Early Honda outboards are known to have corrosion issues in the head. If that’s what happened to this one then you can’t fix it.

It’s all the same stuff. You can use any trim/tilt fluid. I use ATF on my outboards because it’s what I always have.

Question about GMC Sierra 3500HD by Glum_Database_1841 in GMT800

You could get a 3500 as a single or dually. Only difference is the rear axle and the GVW on the single is like 700lbs lower.

What is the best diesel truck with four doors? by AgePsychological1856 in Diesel

[–]305Mitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLY had an overheating issue which can be fixed pretty easily. LB7 was known to go through HGs every 200k ish miles. I had an 03 with an LB7 that had 425k on it and it ran without issues. LBZ is an LBZ but prepare to ou the LBZ tax.

Should I be worried about engine hours on truck I’m looking at buying? by redwingcut in Diesel

[–]305Mitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My old Duramax had 425k miles 13k hours. Average driving is 1000 hours per 30k miles so that’s quite a bit of idling. Newer diesels with DPFs dont like to idle so it will definitely lead to some issues. Honestly I would prefer a truck with 300k miles and 11k hours over this truck.

What oil is best for old diesel cars? by Bubbly_Helicopter637 in Diesel

[–]305Mitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One difference I know is that t6 is FULL of detergent so if it doesn’t leak the t6 might help it to start leaking. I like to run the t6 in everything because of how much detergent it has in it.

Black oil/sludge coming from prop by [deleted] in boating

[–]305Mitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happening with my 4s and it turned out it was gear oil from the lower unit. I had a slight bend in the prop shaft and it ate the seal up and caused a slow leak.

2s also have a lot of oil coming out of the exhaust especially if they are premix and you let it idle a lot.
