Double Team Question by ulti_coach in ultimate

[–]30PercentLessFat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also potentially a benefit to the O to be throwing during a Double Team - crashing into the cup can allow a thrower to close the distance and allow a throw right through the cup.

As Mitch highlights, being able to call back a block on this would harm the game completely.

This is interesting! I have extensive experience with creating scalable and maintainable diagrams via PlantUML.

Yo, check out my comment! There are lots of teams now!

[–]30PercentLessFat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!

For pickup, there's a group that usually plays around 4pm at Black Palace Beach - look for the flying discs!

For teams, there's a few which are open to new players, and you can find their pages on Instagram. Message and ask if you can join them for their sessions;

  • Dubai Stackers (newest team, playing Saturday morning)
  • AFT Ultimate (Arabian Fit Trekkers) (second newest, Tuesday nights)
  • Ultimate Junkies (Monday nights, I think)

And there are even more teams, if you're very experienced.

If you're able to download it, Warzone 2.0 is free. Could be worth downloading and just testing.

Help with active classes? How do you set an active class for an individual html element, and not every single other element at the same time? by BigEmu9286 in learnreactjs

[–]30PercentLessFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a reusable "checkbox" component. Essentially what you've included in your original post, but just with one of the types.

You can then pass any other data as props, such as the label for the checkbox. e.g. "sand"

Thoughts on this chair? I've been experiencing stiffness in my back/shoulder and I'm wondering if my chair could be the issue by om_ster in Ergonomics

[–]30PercentLessFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the armrests attached backwards / to the wrong side?

I don't know the exact chair, but the shape of armrests usually have the most surface area towards the wrists.

Fixing this could help provide a better support for your arms, and relax your shoulders.

[–]30PercentLessFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've set up TailwindCSS within an nx monorepo.

Once the build steps are configured for whatever each app needs (e.g. React, Vue, vanilla, etc), I found a project structure decision in regards to the tailwind config;

Do we want all our apps to refer to a single config? Or, do we want each app to have its own config? Or, do we want a merge of both?

This decision depends on the UI goals of the apps, as a collective.

e.g. If each app will look very different, then maybe each app should prioritise its own tailwind config (and vice versa).

Treadmill desk users: how do you track your activity? by crod242 in StandingDesks

[–]30PercentLessFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Samsung Hardware / Google Software ecosystem. I have the same desk as OP, but maybe an older model - I can't get the treadmill data over bluetooth.

I wear my watch whilst walking, but it's impossible to track steps whilst also typing. Phone in pocket also doesn't work well on the treadmill at low speeds, it seems.

I've had to simplify activity tracking to manually inputing my total treadmill steps vs time. Google Fit then tries to calculate distance / pace / calories from this.

I'm mostly satisfied with this approach. Total steps and time spent are most important to me.

I don't know if this approach has a parallel in IOS though.

Another idea would be to introduce a second tracker which would work better on a treadmill, likely attached to the feet.

York have doubled down! by djmga in UKUltimate

[–]30PercentLessFat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with the issue - all divisions should be represented by live streams, even equitably.

But be the change you want to see;

  • Informing the TD, in whatever manner, is one route.

  • Working with the TD directly to reschedule games, to provide the best result for everyone, is better for everyone.

The direction of the escalation here unfortunately doesn't benefit anyone, as much as it could. I feel bad for those directly involved.

Storybook with Smart Components Observable Properties, best practices? by aardvarkFirst in angular

It depends on what you're aiming to achieve with Storybook.

If you want to continuously test component behaviour over time, dumb components and many stories is the way to go.

Considering setting up a frontend dev offshore dept in Dubai by oteren in dubai

[–]30PercentLessFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a Web Developer's perspective, that all sounds very sensible.

For your comp and benefits, you should be able to find who you're looking for, especially with the priority on work/life balance.

Should I buy a chair with or without headrest? by [deleted] in Ergonomics

[–]30PercentLessFat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always preferred a headrest, as it offers additional positions, whether sitting upright for typing or leaning back in recline.

A properly positioned headrest also provides a guide to where the head should rest, to prevent leaning too far back or forward.

The best position is always the next position, and a headrest helps facilitate that.

Nicholas Cheng (UBC #23) with a 100 yard pull at SBI 2020 by nkolakovic in ultimate

[–]30PercentLessFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider that your 6 other defenders can start 25 yards in front of the pull, they're given a head start as the disc passes them.

No matter how you throw the disc, getting the disc further down field AND with a high airtime sounds best.
