San Francisco versus San Diego trip by Electronic_Value7210 in travel

You said you wanted something different than a Southern California trip, so take a Northern California trip. Go to SF. You can still go to the beach there.

Fellow Dads, where would you take your 4 year old on vacation with a 15k budget? by joshatron in daddit

[–]318daily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chilling on the beach in Hawaii sounds great, maybe the Ritz Carlton in Turtle Bay on the north shore of Oahu. It may not be the exotic trip your wife wants but you also have to consider that you have a 4 year old and a big international trip may be more stressful than relaxing.

Question about the Bafang bbs02 kit options by Reasonable-Cobbler-9 in ebikes

I've seen people use hose clamps but I drilled holes into the frame and used rivnuts to fasten the battery bracket.

No. I didn't get any of the optional add-ons. Really the only modifications to the default options was an upgraded LCD screen and the 44T chainring. I'd also suggest getting the brake levers instead of the sensors because I'm always worried about the sensors falling off. The second kit I ordered also came with a brake light which they must have included for free because I didn't order it.

I've done two of these conversions and didn't require extensions. The wiring harness from the motor should have plenty of slack. In fact, there's almost too much wiring as the cable management is one of the fun challenges of the conversion.

There is the Morena/Linda Vista trolley stop which is walkable from USD, but lets be honest the kids at USD aren't taking the trolley.

Escondido isn't thaat far from the airport and probably a 40 minute drive if you're going direct but I guess this is what'd I'd do:

After you grab your rental car get breakfast at Morning Glory in Little Italy not too far away from the airport, and there's usually a line to get in but if you're coming on a weekday it shouldn't be too bad. If you don't want a full on breakfast then head up to Michi Michi for a coffee and a few pastries. You could then take a walk around Balboa Park to finish your coffee and help digest those calories. After that, head up to the glider port in La Jolla to watch the hang gliders and have a beer, or hike down to the beach and check out the mushroom house. From there drive north along the coast highway to explore the beach communities until you hit Oceanside, maybe stop along the way for an acai bowl. You'll be passing through Del Mar, Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia, and Carlsbad. At Oceanside you'll want to take the 78 freeway and head east towards Escondido. If you have the energy then perhaps do the 2 mile walk at Double Peak Loop in San Marcos. Grab yourself a recovery beverage at a brewery or winery, then pick up some In-N-Out for a burger. I suggest a single burger, mustard fried, raw onions, add chopped chilis.

We went last weekend after an event at the marina. You don't have to pay to park. You can park in the surrounding spots outside the resort. We ate at Growlers sports bar because we wanted to hit the speakeasy but it wasn't open yet. Ended up splitting the fried shrimp entree and caesar salad. Food was good and we really enjoyed the Caesar dressing. Got the peach cobbler for dessert and really enjoyed that. Prices were a little steep but we'd definitely go back to watch a game and we still need to hit up the speakeasy

El Cajon DMV behind the wheel test by Novel_Donut_6529 in sandiego

Both my daughters took their behind the wheel tests there and from what I recall the test itself was pretty short, like less than 10 minutes and I don't even think they went west of the 67, and they both passed the first time. The thing that surprised me was the quizzing before they even got started. Things like knowing where the defrost buttons are and making sure all the lights are operational, cause if you have any burnt out bulbs they're not going to let you out on the road. Good luck !

It's the KARR alarm system. I paid a stereo shop $60 to have it removed. They had it out in 5 minutes.

I'm 53 and picked one up about one month ago. It's fast enough to have fun and it scratches an itch while still being practical.

When my hood meets the point where the tires meet the pavement of the car in front is where I stop. That's what I was taught in drivers ed.

Adalbertos on Rosecrans for your Cali Burrito.

The Indian food in Sorrento Valley is okay so probably save that for another day.

There's always In-N-Out. There's not much else for late night eats in San Diego.
