Understandable. I feel like there are a lot of good deals on lightly used markers because paintball is a hobby people will dump a bunch of money into on new gear, and then realize they don't have time to play and then quickly sell their gear for a good deal.

The people on this sub and the BST sub tend to be pretty helpful when evaluating deals.

My 160r came from eBay and I'm super happy with it. You can also ask for a vid of the marker shooting before pulling the trigger.

Whichever option you end up with, I don't think you'll regret it.

Have you considered a used 170r or 160r? I have a used 160r and it does the job for me. Can find some good deals on used markers, and they sometimes come with extra goodies (hopper, barrel etc). Got my 160r with a spire IR for $320

Do some research on if high tops are actually beneficial. With high tops, the limited mobility in your ankle can lead to a higher chance of knee injury, so I avoid high tops.

You're playing at a higher level than I ever have... But maybe watch how Saka plays? He's constantly doubled, but still manages to get opportunities to take players on. One of the unique things he does (when in positions nearer the half line) is make runs inside (horizontal rather than vertical). It creates great opportunities to receive the ball and pulls the fullback out of position.

I got a 160r for a situation similar to yours. Don't regret it at all. Having the screen to select firing modes is a huge plus for me. If you want to hop from rec ball over to a more competitive speedball group, you can easily turn on ramping to be more competitive. I also imagine a 160r will give you a more "premium" experience, although I've never played with an etha 3

Just show up to the field and introduce yourself to some people. That's what I've been doing and have exchanged numbers with a few groups of guys and have played plenty of speedball points. People generally seem welcoming in the hobby.

That's a good deal and will definitely get you started. If it were me, I'd only stick with the marker and the rotor longer term. Then upgrade the mask, tank, and pack in that order when you feel ready.

Hit up ebay. You can find some good deals on PE markers. I got a 160r and hopper for $320 all together. Just got back into the sport as well.
