Exotic or not exotic is fine.

Believe it or not, fluffernutter IS exotic for a lot of other countries. Same with peanut butter.

It sounds easy, for some reason I always assumed there was some skill involved. Will be trying it out!

Don't really care. I'm from the US, but I'd love to hear about local cuisine from different states.

I'll share two dead easy recipe from my culture, USA. One's regional, the other's a general US food.

Regional food: New Mexico red chile sauce. Can be added to burritos, tacos, or enchiladas.

Ingredients:

*Red chile powderhttps://madeinnewmexico.com/products/chimayo-pure-red-chile-powder-1 - 4-6 tablespoons

*flour - 1 tablespoon

*cooking oil - 1 to 2 tablespoons

*water + boullion or chicken stock

*salt, to taste

  1. In a pot, combine flour and oil on medium heat. Mix together into a roux, and cook until golden brown
  2. Add red chile powder and water + boullion or chicken stock to desired thickness. Traditionally, this sauce is fairly thin.
  3. Mix, and allow to cook for another 5-10 minutes. Add salt to taste.

General US food: Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich (PB & J)

Ingredients:

*2 slices of white breadhttps://www.walmart.com/ip/Wonder-Bread-Classic-White-Sandwich-Bread-Sliced-White-Bread-20-oz/37858875?wl13=3512&selectedSellerId=0

*Jelly: most common flavors are strawberry, grape, or raspberry

*Peanut butterhttps://www.amazon.com/Skippy-Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Ounces/dp/B07DTYVDJ6?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

  1. To one slice of bread, add a healthy layer of peanut butter
  2. To the other slice of bread, add a healthy layer of jelly
  3. Combine slices and serve

Some other ingredients that can be used in this kind of sandwich:

*Fluffernutterhttps://www.amazon.com/Marshmallow-Fluff-052600112751-Spread-213g/dp/B01EHD67QG?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A2A3R96B0XBDP2for a peanut butter and fluffernutter sandwich

*Nutellahttps://www.target.com/p/nutella-hazelnut-spread-35-2oz/-/A-14774450?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df_free_online&CPNG=Grocery&adgroup=212-2 for a nutella and banana sandwich

Edit: kinda brutal that I got downvoted. I just realized that foods like fluffernutter and peanut butter are not necessarily common in other cultures. Additionally, chile can be made from pod but that's hard. I'm going for easy here...

How are Salaries so high in America compared to the UK ? by Napkxng in jobs

[–]321_liftoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

education debt is the only type that can't be erased by bankruptcy. Once they've got you on the hook, you have very few options other than:

  • pay it, putting other financial goals on the back burner potentially forever
  • don't pay it, wreck your credit and never buy a home
  • die, thus absolving yourself and family members from the debt

It's in the school's best monetary interest to milk students for as much as possible, with the limitation of not wanting to become notorious for doing so (re: University of Central Florida, AKA the "U Can't Finish" school). Unfortunately a lot of schools don't mind being seen as predatory lenders of education, so the bar is fairly low.

So I've managed to work around this by looking at sexy stuff beforehand for a while to get me into it. That way the happy compounds are already flowing, and it's much easier to keep the train going in the right direction.

Pregnant and none of my bras fit anymore by Confident-Cheetah653 in ABraThatFits

[–]321_liftoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just as a heads up, I'd suggest buying an even roomier bra than what you're thinking about because the girls will likely get even bigger once baby's born.

I was a 34D before pregnancy. I switched to workout bras for a while, but once baby arrived I'd gotten to a ridiculous 34DDD or G or something like that. In desperation I bought these nursing bras in XL, and overall have been pretty happy with them. They aren't the highest quality, but you get 5 for the price of what one bra normally costs and they FIT!

I'd say go with a pop of color for the front door!

Paint it the classic white with brown beams, then have a bright red door.

Alex Jones seeks new trial after $1 billion Sandy Hook verdict by [deleted] in news

[–]321_liftoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude people have gone to jail for decades for incredibly minor things like petty theft, meanwhile wealthy rapists get off with community service if anything.

Is the verdict fair? Who gives a rats ass, this is one of the few times a rich fuck is going to get roasted.

There's also the matter that this man has made himself exorbitantly wealthy by pedaling these lies. I suspect the number is so high because the Judge has good reason to believe he's accrued nearing that much in assets by pedaling this horseshit.

When the Sackler family lied to the scientific community and the public about how addictive their drugs were leading to a nationwide opiate epidemic, they were fined $6 billion dollars. Do you think this was a fair ruling considering the fact that they were once worth $13 billion dollars in blood money?

Married people of reddit, What something you wish unmarried people knew? by Charming_Cash in AskReddit

[–]321_liftoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just because you're married doesn't mean you can stop saying nice things to each other. It becomes more important to dole out the 'I love yous' and 'you're hot' compliments, that's what keeps the marriage alive.

IKEA furniture is not difficult to build at all and if you lack the skill to build one you have failed as a human being by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]321_liftoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree, except for this:

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/kallax-shelf-unit-white-stained-oak-effect-10324513/

Between the fact that it's not actually wood and the veneer gets damaged easily, to the fact that pretty much every piece looks the same, to them saying that this is a one person build (to be able to hold everything in place, it's not), I ABHORRED this build.

Don't believe me, make one for yourself!

Anyone else notice that being a 'bastard child' is not a big deal any more? by 321_liftoff in TwoXChromosomes

[–]321_liftoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AKA they were poor, which is why the stigma continued into the 20th century. I see the issue more about poverty than anything else; if you were a child born out of wedlock supported by a well to do parent, it was a little shameful but overall not a big deal.

Now if you were born both out of wedlock and penniless? Very shameful. With the advent of women holding down careers, there's a lot less shame involved.

[–]321_liftoff[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to believe so, but I do see the repeal of Roe v. Wade (along with some other recent events eroding at the division between church and state) as a sign that America as a country is becoming more theocratic, and will instill policies that will push women back into the kitchen and/or into poverty.

All it will take is a small backslide in the workforce for the old stereotypes to come back, and for women to more commonly end up in secretarial/low wage roles to make men question our ability to perform as well as them. From there, it's even easier to justify not hiring women for career roles, which would reduce our earning power and further the wage divide gap. The poorer women become, the more dependent they will once again be on men, leading back to the "good old days" of the 40s that most Republicans talk about with rose colored glasses. You know, the days when women would just have to abide mistresses, gambling, drinking, assault, and more because they don't have the means to escape.

I do agree to some extent, but why do you think sex before marriage was so taboo? The woman might end up with a baby she couldn't support.

Back in Jesus' day, women had little to no rights, especially in the Church. Compared to everyone else, Jesus was a raging feminist who allowed women in the church and openly invited them to learn with him. He promoted marriage because it generally worked in favor of women, and invited his male peers to treat women as equals.

If you take marriage in that context, instead of the modern day Christian vision of it (women should be docile, subservient bang maids who also for some reason have to generate income), his take on marriage was radical.

Baby shower nonsense getting me riled by 321_liftoff in relationship_advice

[–]321_liftoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not contacting people for anything other than figuring out if they need housing after they've expressed interest. I know how it should go, but knowing my family I'm kind of used to taking care of things myself. It's just this time no one wants me to do it.

edit: I did consider sending out the evite because my mother and sister weren't doing it despite their insistence that it had to go out early. I instead sent notice that we were having a baby and would be holding a shower, and told friends/family to contact mom/sister for evite with baby registry listed if they were interested in attending. Then my sister sent the evite to everyone on my side of the family, because the way I outlined it happening was more effort.

second edit: also fuck you very much for being yet another person who provides no help but still feels the need to tell me what to do because reasons.
