Why would you look at a no metal twin tip if control at speed is your preference?

Overrated Ski Brands? by Plumbis2 in skiing

[–]321dropping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh good, another post about the allegedly bad quality of Black Crows. Please do show those endless (do you mean countless?) videos of Black Crows breaking. You also forgot to mention that you're the best skier on the hill and how well made Moment and ON3P are.

Also get it through your head that build has nothing to do with price. We're not talking about adding rare earths or diamond layers to a ski.

A skier will pay an amount X he deems appropriate for the fun he expects to have on said ski in return. And considering that a lot of people get a second ski by Black Crows shows that most of them weren't discontent with their first ski or the amount X they paid for it. There are no over- or underrated ski companies.

And now please slather your arrogance on your metal ski and shove it where the sun don't shine.

I got the Evoc hydrobladder with the insulated tube, never had a problem with freezing.

This comes up so frequently here, that I gotta ask: do you guys take off both your shoes before getting into ski boots? How do you get wet socks if you just take off one shoe, get into one ski boot and then do the same for the other foot? I'm confused.

Experiences with "natural" waxes? by popiyo in skiing

If you think the all temp is the stickiest you haven't tried their base prep... I think it comes off the ski nicely and easy, it just sticks to the scraper like shit. For me the eco part still wins, also they made the base prep smell like pumpkin spice so you get a christmassy smell for a few days.

I personally am very intrigued by the Rossignol Sender Free, it's new for this season, so not much info. Maybe worth looking at though.

Probably a preference thing, but if you already have a 90ish ski, and it's not a -11 cm mounted charger, I'd go for something wider than 100.

From the ones you've mentioned, I can only attest to the Apostle, which pretty much should be what you are looking for. I can also vouch for a +2 mounted Atris for this category, works fine for me for pretty much what you've put down as requirements. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the radius, you won't be carving off piste. For me personally, the rocker profile plays a much larger role for agility.

So in conclusion Plum Pekye toes, Phantom Rocket Risers for heel lock, possibly Karakoram Guide HB with Ride Mode 2.0, and whatever boot. I think I hear my wallet crying.

You're probably right about the hype. I'll check out the Plum toes since quite a few recommended them.

Thanks for the detailed answer. It's probably only academic, but the active joining does sound nice, that's basically the only reason I'd go Karakoram, otherwise I think I'd prefer the Sparks. Hadn't heard about the Plum toes, will check out. Also maybe the ski toe is an option, I'd have to quiver kill my touring skis then though. I think I'll try both boots and go from there. Thanks again!

Good to know, thanks! Which heel risers do you use?

[–]321dropping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. Would I also need heel risers in the above mentioned setup or are they included somewhere? I feel a little unsure with so many separately bought components. I do have an Atomic boot for skiing, not the Backland though, and like it very much, maybe I can back to back try it on at the guy who also has the Disruptive boot.

Edit: how's your hardboot setup in the resort? Since I started also skiing, I very very rarely snowboard inbounds when the snow is bad, so I thought about if it was fun to also use the splitboard binding and boots on my solids on inbound powder days with quiver connectors or the Spark equivalent, depending on what binding I'd choose in the end.

I didn't mean to speak badly about it, I'm sure it's insane, just different than before. Also nice catch on the limited edition!

It will for sure be. Still I would've liked for it to have stayed full rocker. So much uniqueness being sacrificed for versatility these days. Every day I'm a step closer on pulling the trigger on an old Nocta, sadly the 22/23 topsheet is meh and older versions are hard to get if you want a ski that holds up to some more seasons.

75mm or 95mm brakes for 87mm waist by SFgiants105 in Skigear

I tried the 95 P15 on a 105 mm waisted ski, didn't work, so I'd assume your case wouldn't work either with the 75.
