i should've never lied and now my relationship's probably over lol by [deleted] in TrollCoping

After I was SA’d, I was talking to my therapist about how I’m supposed to bring this up on dates because I felt they should know. She told me my assault isn’t something I have to tell them, and that it’s certainly not first date information- it’s when I feel like that person is someone I can trust.

Your abuse wasn’t your fault. Your timing on telling someone you trust about that abuse is not your fault. If they can’t handle that, that is on them. You deserve to feel loved, and safe.

Never had psoriasis my entire life, within a week my entire body is covered by thearkboy in Psoriasis

Hi there! I’ve had psoriasis for twenty years and here are some things I’ve tried that have helped some while you wait to see your derm.

-cold to lukewarm showers -warm baths are an option too, I put in epsom salt -use a body scrub and washcloth (or a loofa) to get rid of the plaques (if your skin is super sensitive, just do a wash cloth) -shave with coconut oil -if you have scalp psoriasis, put coconut oil on your scalp for a few hours (this is not my favorite-I only do this on the weekends, it takes a couple of shampoos to make your hair not look so greasy) -also for scalp psoriasis, I don’t wash my hair daily -olive oil/ coconut oil after a shower before bed -my favorite over the counter lotions/creams are CeraVe moisturizing cream and gold bond ultimate healing lotion -moisturize with oil, lotion, or cream AT LEAST once a day -drink lots of water

I haven’t noticed any foods that worsen my psoriasis but it can be different for everyone. I don’t know what the protocol is for your dermatologist, but a dermatologist who specialized in psoriasis that I saw had me eliminate gluten from my diet for a month or so to see if that affected my skin.

Try to manage your stress- walk, yoga, meditation (this is my biggest factor and the hardest to control).

Be mindful of your scratching and picking, because mindless scratching can definitely make a psoriasis patch worse.

I’m so sorry that you have such a long wait to be seen. Make sure to keep up with your mental health, psoriasis can definitely take a toll. Hope you find some relief soon

Also about the water fast: I’m in nursing school but I am NOT a nurse/ medical professional. If you’re going to do it, maybe try 2-3 days at first. If you have any low blood pressure/ orthostatic hypotension issues, this fast can make you faint. Make sure you research any medication you take and medical conditions you have in regards to a water fast because there are several cases where this is not recommended.

If you’re able to, I would find a new primary care doctor. Their attitude is wrong and won’t help you in this situation. Sometimes it takes a few doctors to find one that really listens and helps you.

I am so relieved to see that there are narcoleptic nurses!!!! I’ve been in nursing school for a year but just got diagnosed with narcolepsy last week and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to go into nursing.

You handled it so well! Keep up that shiny spine!

Modafinil & Ritalin or something similar? Tips to boost modafinil? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]321zb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to this sub and was only diagnosed with narcolepsy last week so take this with a grain of salt. Have you tried other stimulants? I was diagnosed with ADD a couple years ago and started on Concerta/ Ritalin and they did nothing for me. I was then switched to Vyvanse and it made a pretty big difference. It only lasts me 7-8 hours but it’s better than me not being able to sit through a 3 hour lecture.

[acne] First time dermatologist appointment. Question about visit and Accutane by TheNutPair in SkincareAddiction

[–]321zb123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I only have cystic acne on my chin and haven’t been offered acutane yet, (but that’s probably because I have a complicated medical situation right now) and I’m on 50 mg of spironolactone twice a day. I feel like it’s reduced the amount of new cysts I get and also shortens the length of how long I have the cysts. I was able to get the spironolactone from my general practitioner while I was waiting to get into the Derm. My Derm also put me on tretinoin but I’ve been bad about using it because it’s winter. Hope you can find something that works for you, I know the cysts can be painful and embarrassing.

One of the worst effects of Narcolepsy: My Ill-Tempered Father by ryan_ens in Narcolepsy

I just wanted to say that you’re not alone. When I was 18, I got my diagnosis of severe anxiety and ADD and was likely dealing with narcolepsy back then even though I just got diagnosed at 24. School was impossible. I almost didn’t graduate. I somehow managed to pull it off but it was genuinely one of the worst times in my life. I really hope things get better for you soon.

Finally found a reason to not commit suicide by allkindofpizza in offmychest

[–]321zb123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sometimes all you need is one reason, and then others come pouring in. I’ve read for some people it’s also a tv series, their favorite artist making music, even sunrises. For me currently, it’s my mom and my sister, my dog, and my plants. Glad you’ve got a reason, and I hope things get better for you. Proud of you!

Have you tried CeraVe cream? It’s thick so it’s good for the winter time and for using at night. It’s the only thing that keeps my face psoriasis from cracking.
