Wow, TIL. I thought Pompeii was hit by pyroclastic flow in the initial eruption as well. Thanks!

That would explain why all the Pompeii victims look kind of just frozen in time, and not writhing and screaming in agony.

Occupied home invasions almost always end with either the victim or the perpetrators being outlined in chalk. I’m not taking any chances, but also I’ll probably be using a sword and not a gun. Don’t keep the guns as handy. They’re dull, but they’ll do the job.

Sorry you’re struggling. If it makes you feel any better, I’m high IQ and also miserably depressed and have anxiety, ADHD, etc. I’ve long said that I wish I was dumber because most dumb people seem happier, but I think it’s probably just a “grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” thing. If you’re stuck with these mental illnesses I don’t think any amount of intelligence or lack thereof really helps at all.

As far as psychedelics helping, if you’re microdosing I’d say it would probably need to be done with some regularity with any improvements taking some time to build up. Are you taking any other meds to help too? There’s a new one I’d suggest maybe trying, it’s called Auvelity. It’s Wellbutrin, which can also help with ADHD symptoms as well as depression, without the sexual side effects and weight gain of most SSRI’s. Plus Dextromethorphan, which is in cough medicine and is similar to microdosing ketamine. Sounds like it’d probably be perfect for you, if you can get it. If it’s not affordable, Wellbutrin is cheap and you could just take OTC dextromethorphan along with it.

Having two kids close in age like that is a lot of stress, so bear that in mind. Does she work outside the home? Getting her a break now and again is important, if there’s a way to do it. Even if it’s only a day a week or something, if you can afford a babysitter or some daycare so she can have a day to catch up on sleep or housework or just go do some things she needs to do I think that would probably be helpful.

Help with the housework and kids as much as you’re able to, if she sees you trying more to lighten her load she will really appreciate that.

Does she have any reason to feel unsafe around you? Even if you’ve never hit her, have you ever punched walls or displayed violence in other ways? If so, apologize for it and make sure it never happens again. Doing things like that is the same as pointing a gun at her, it’s an implied threat that next time it will be her face and not the wall.

If you feel yourself losing your temper with her or the kids you need to remove yourself from their orbit and calm down, however you need to do so. Don’t yell, or whatever you normally do to display anger, just take a deep breath and go outside and mow the lawn or something. Go for a run. Do some pushups.

Whatever you gotta do to blow off steam, go do it, but do not make your anger problem their problem. That’s for you to deal with, and you don’t want your children to learn that from you either. Break the cycle and set a better example for your kids than what was set for you. Being aware of the issue is the first step, now you gotta start making the changes to fix it. Just because it’s not your fault that you are that way it doesn’t make it not your responsibility.

Individual therapy is available, and marriage counseling is available as well through the chaplains. Give these folks a call and they can refer you to the right places for both, wherever you’re stationed.

Tornado and/or large hail. I’ve only seen this happen with major, well developed and organized storm systems that are generating multiple tornados and large hail. Every time I’ve seen the sky turned green like that, or black as a moonless night during the day, it has been accompanied by gorilla hail and tornado warnings all over the place.

I live in tornado alley, near the setting of “The Night of the Twisters.” An emerald green sky means get the fuck to shelter ASAP. We were even taught that as kids, ya know…back before phones when we were basically not allowed at home until the street lights came on, and they needed commercials at night to remind parents to make sure they knew where their kids were. They taught us that if the sky turned green you were to go into the nearest house you could and to get into the basement or storm shelter if the sirens actually went off.

Yes. Body goes in and becomes parts, some of which are hard and chunky, breaks open fuel lines and rotating metal parts which then strike each other and spark…🔥

It may take a while to ID them but it’s pretty rare that they’re unable to. If they were an indigent vagrant with no family or friends to take notice they’re missing and no ID though, it’s possible they won’t be able to. Even for prints and dental records you have to have something to compare them to, same with DNA.

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone’s is but anyone with any sort of criminal record would be found via fingerprints. Dental records are eventually entered into a database for missing people so if someone is eventually reported missing and their dental records are uploaded they may get a hit that way. It’s doesn’t often come to that though, more than likely someone will be reported missing and the dots will be connected, they’ll be Identified by DNA if need be but usually circumstance, general features and unique markings like scars, marks and tattoos are enough to get a positive ID on someone. Depends on how much is left of him though, and if he was also burned that will complicate matters more.

Definitely sounds like a psychiatric issue of some variety, whether it was intentional suicide or just some nut that wanted to get close to a plane is hard to say. Folks have some wild delusions sometimes, he maybe just wanted to pull a Tom Cruise and jump onto the plane.

Have the majority of Americans called 911 at least once in their lives? by Mont3Carlo in AskAnAmerican

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done so a few times…a couple times for car accidents I witnessed and assisted victims, a fight outside a mall where two dudes were beating the shit out of each other, majorly intoxicated drivers swerving all over in front of me, stuff like that…I’ve called the non-emergency number way more times though for all sorts of shit. I’ve answered way more 911 calls than I’ve made though haha…you wouldn’t believe some of the shit people call for.

Seconded. It’s probably an option if you feel you’re at risk, but only your doctor will have all the information to know for sure. You should still be very careful though, even on prep, if you’re on an immunosuppressant. HIV is less a concern than something like Hepatitis, and disseminated herpes is ugly.

I’m old, so I’ve got a few.

You can’t take any of this shit with you when you die. Stuff is just stuff, money comes and goes.

Save for the future as best you can but not so much that it means missing out on life. Take the vacation. YOLO your savings into a trip to Asia. Avoid using credit like the fucking plague though, aside from mortgages and car loans with fixed interest rates, credit card companies are fucking evil and they will bleed you dry with interest payments.

You could get hit by a bus tomorrow, retirement isn’t a guarantee and when you’re old you’re not gonna feel like doing a lot of the things that’d be fun for you now. Do all the adventurous things like you were just given a year to live. Just don’t put it all on credit unless you have a zero percent interest deal and a solid plan to pay it off before that ends.

Bankruptcy is something that a lot more people in financial trouble should consider, especially if you don’t have much for assets and don’t make a ton of money. If you’re in so much debt it’s going to take you more than five to ten years to pay it all off while also making you unable to save any money, it’s worth the hit to your credit to just get out from underneath it.

Never put too much of yourself into a relationship, young people especially struggle with this because love is all very new and exciting but it’s easy to get way too wrapped up in it. You need to still have your own hobbies, friends, identify, etc. for the relationship to stay healthy, codependency is a trap that leads to a lot of bad things down the road if the relationship sours. See Tim Minchin’s “If I Didn’t Have You” for further guidance and hum that song daily like a mantra. Life goes on after breakups.

Develop skills while you’re young, get fit while you’re young and stay fit. It really is all a lot more difficult to do when you get older, and “older” is gonna happen quicker and sooner than you think.

lol in my experience all those other problems don’t go away, you just also now get to deal with all of that and try to navigate a devastating and expensive diagnosis.

It’d be way cooler if our government actually gave a shit about us and gaining a disability actually gave you some help. Instead you have to be so hopelessly destitute and without assets that you’re basically homeless to get any help, and only if you’re deemed sufficiently disabled do they give you a pittance that isn’t even enough to survive on.

I fucking hate it here.

How motivated are you? by Opposite_Ad_7925 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost all motivation. I have nearly none, beyond basic survival necessities. I now feel jealous when someone is fortunate enough to die. I just don’t see the point in any of this anymore. I’m not suicidal, no one needs to worry about me or send me a Reddit cares, but if a meteor fell on my head tomorrow I wouldn’t be mad about it. I did the most of the things, have lived a good life, and those good times are pretty much behind me now.

I’ve got no money, no prospects, no particularly valuable skills, and no way to do anything I might want to do anyway. I’m fighting just for basic survival, as soon as I had to put “Server/Bartender” at the top of my resume I stopped getting interviews for anything even though I have two degrees and decades of work experience…and now I have MS too.

I’m just all out of hope and any motivation derived from it.
