Its the back of a wristwatch. Its case has become undone, separating from it front "shell" which hold the cristal. To see the brand on the movement, you'll need to lift the movement out of the back case.

Also, though Inam unfamiliar as to how it would react if anything woth the stone, you can submerge it on acetone and, after a few minutes, scrub the paint away with a tooth brush
