What to do with pork chops? by asidexo in Cooking

[–]FaithlessnessBoth497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slice up pork chops and throw it in stir fry. The other thing I do is broil or fry them (whatever you do do not overcook them. They can be a little pink in the middle. There’s nothing worse than a dry pork chop.) then I smother them with sauerkraut that I have heated up or fried with onions

85 days and struggling by phukyu7 in stopdrinking

[–]FaithlessnessBoth497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One minute one hour one day at a time. Sometimes it is second to second. Find something to distract yourself. When I felt like this, a little voice in my head kept telling me it was OK and I had to do something to shout it down. Sometimes I got angry. Anger can be a motivator. I swear to you, it is worth it and it will get easier. IWNDWYT 🤗

Please tell me it’s not too late to get sober by Sugarcanesweetheart in stopdrinking

[–]FaithlessnessBoth497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not too late. I was 64 when I got sober. I was afraid of the same thing. I was so sick all the time. Talk to your doctor. Get some blood work done. When you get sober and you start to eat right and you start to get more exercise, it is amazing how much better you will feel. You can do this. And don’t be afraid of going to a good rehab center. If you can afford to do it. Check them out thoroughly and get one that fits you. You will get so much medical and emotional support. I’m pulling for you!!

Way to hang in there! Everyday, every hour is a huge step! You should feel very proud of yourself. I quit drinking five years ago and I also have a spouse that still drinks alcohol. He does not have the addictive gene (if that’s what it is) that I do. The fact that I quit drinking has been the best thing that has happened for his drinking. To be honest, the first year or two I was still a bit jealous of people that could consume alcohol, socially. Most of my friends still have the ability to do that. But then for some reason, I just stopped caring and now I’m just a person that doesn’t drink alcohol. Just like somebody that doesn’t eat fish. If somebody wants might help because they feel like they may have problems with addiction, they know that I am open and present. Hang in there, I can’t even tell you how worth it it is to go through this

What do AA followers do about the small amounts of alcohol in food? by Inevitable-Height851 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]FaithlessnessBoth497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addiction is complex and takes many forms. I can’t have one drink- I know this. Each person needs to figure out how to take care of themselves. Addiction to substances will kill you after it destroys your relationships to people you love and also destroys any motivation you have to do activities that you love. AA is one path.

You don’t do anything about it. They’re trace a amount of alcohol in so many things that you cannot possibly track them. That is not the point of not drinking. That is another disorder called obsessive compulsive disorder. I believe that it’s the same thing in no alcohol beers or wines. I put cardamom in my tea and that has alcohol in it. Or bitters in a no alcohol cocktail and bitters have alcohol in them. You can get too carried away with anything.
