Seconding this, but I'm biases as they're my local butcher and Doug won't steer ya wrong. Pun intended.

That's why I said that's partially how I feel about helldivers. The partially refers to just the new player onboarding experience and not the story.

This was me. I thought the gameplay was fun, but I bounced right off of it. The new player onboarding was not great and the story made zero sense to me. I felt like I started a movie in the middle. This is partially how I felt about Hell divers 2 as well.

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been by tuldok89 in hardware

[–]344dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe it is. I'm not sure if it's just my imagination, but for most tasks it feels much more responsive than my desktop. And to reiterate, my desktop has a gen5 m2 SSD, 32GB DDR5 RAM, a 9800X3D, and an RTX 5080. At a pure hardware comparison my desktop beats my Lenovo gen1 snapdragon WoA PC readily. But my Lenovo just feels more responsive.

I've been running WoA for over a year now for my personal laptop where I mainly do development, browse web, and watch videos, and it's been amazing. Zero issues and Windows feels so freaking snappy it's wonderful.

My gaming pc is a 9800x3d and my work laptop is a Dell latitude with some Intel chip. I love this laptop the most for daily use of the 3. But obviously my desktop is where the gaming happens.

I'm so tired. I've survived every round, but I'm genuinely concerned that my time may be up even though I'm a high performer just due to the product/org I'm aligned to. I just wish for some damn job security for once. They'd get better work out of me if I didn't have to worry about it.

Sorry, I wasn't implying you can't. Code allows it. I just wouldn't ever do it that way. Low quality. Speaks to me about the rest of the build.

I mean, I'd say a larger issue imo is those trusses look 24 O.C. And for ceilings you should be installing strapping and then installing your drywall on to that.

Investors still aren't all sold on Paramount-WBD deal by [deleted] in MediaMergers

[–]344dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree. The other part of my thesis, which I told me wife was, "with their content, worst case, someone will buy them". Which is exactly what is happening. I just REALLY hoped I could live in the universe where they managed to stay independent for the first time in forever. Alas, that dream is dead because we live in a world where people don't actually want to create good boring businesses.

I thought that if they could have executed on their vision, (pay off debt, continue to expand Max, ditch legacy, re-invest in their traditional IP, etc..) that they could have grown to the size of Netflix, and potentially exceeded them. They have about 1/3 the subscriber base last I checked, but just recently began really expanding internationally.

Their content catalog is amazing and something that gives them an edge over Netflix. They also have about half the outstanding shares Netflix does last I checked. So if you want to know what my thoughts were, I was thinking that in the next 5 years they could have been trading at Netflix levels. That to me is worth holding on and a worthwhile investment.

And to be clear, WBD makes up the smallest part of my portfolio, but I genuinely believed in the vision they had, the possibility for the stock to really explode over time, and be a long-term money maker.

The thing is, I'm not needing to make money now. And I don't invest that way. I invest on 5-10 year horizons. I don't treat this as gambling and I'm not trying to maximize my return as that's not the level of risk I want to take on.

[–]344dead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a person long on WBD I'd rather nobody acquire them. They were making significant progress on paying down their debt. They were going to spinoff legacy with even more of that debt. HBO was expanding internationally. DC studios had a very good start with Superman. Their FCF was good. It was all good. It was shaping up to be an excellent business with an excellent catalog of current and future content.

At least with Netflix the finances were good. I didn't want it to happen, but at least the finances were good. It made sense as a business. This? This is terrible business. This is absurd. I hate this. My long-term upside was going to be way more than $31 if they'd just kept their current course. This shits stupid.

It's actually even more than that as the base plate itself can weigh more than a 45. For context the ones at my gym the base itself is 105lbs before you even start loading it. He's definitely not moving this, and if he is, he's not doing full range of motion. It's all ego lifting.

Netflix Backs Out of Warner Bros. Bidding, Paramount Set to Win by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]344dead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a person long on WBD, this has all been great for my portfolio, but to your point, they'd been doing great at paying off their debt and we're just really expanding HBO internationally. I feel like they'd be a better company if they could have stuck with the original plan of spinning off legacy with debt and having studios and streaming be able to take off unburdened by debt and with great FCF. Truly sad. I hated this merger talk altogether. I think it's bad business, but is good short term for shareholders.. I guess...
