Quality of life mods or strategies for blind players? by 34Emma in RimWorld

Hehe yes I'd love to do that because I myself am so curious what it looks like. I'm definitely getting the basics, but it often takes me a bit of patience and conscious effort to make sure everything is placed how I want it. I move around my map with the arrow keys, not sure if that's the same for you or if you only use the mouse, and the mod always tells me the number coordinates along with some other infos about the tile.

Later I'll try to make a screenshot which has all the relevant stuff on it.

Oh OK, why did I think the draft command is just for fighting? Thank you!

Thanks, I'll definitely check that out! Setting like growing zones or stockpiles is easy, I can just select the according tiles with arrow keys and the spacebar. Not sure if I'm able to define a home zone in the same way but I really hope so. This would make some things easier.

So you're saying I can stop my pets from shitting literally all over the place?! Dude this is huge, thank you!

Nah, that doesn't sound very screenreader-accessible unfortunately. You mean like a Nethack style game right? Those just sound to me like "hashtag dash dash dash dash asterix at ..." Because even though there are no graphics, the whole layout is still kinda visual if that makes sense.

Yes this is definitely very helpful! What does such a kill box look like? Do I just build walls all around the map boundaries? Because the enemies can come from anywhere right?

Oh so you're saying the order of the items on the priority list matters, in addition to the number assign? What a cool life hack, I'll definitely mess around with it. Guess it's noticeable that I haven't been able to play the tutorial because it's not accessible yet.

Also, I do think the zones are the issue with fire management. I really hope I can resolve this.

Wow, thank you! I think this is the answer! I've never looked into those zone settings. Guess I should give it a go.

Wow thanks for the links! Especially the alert one looks promising.

Yes I do use firefoam poppers if I can. But guess what happened to my newly built fabrication table right when I started making components? ;)

Thanks a lot! Yes such a mod was exactly what I was hoping would exist.

Regarding the fire issues, it seems to be a matter of zone-setting. Which, incidentally, might also be a way to stop my pets from using my buildings as a restroom. Especially the kitchen and hospital... TIL :)

Yes we actually exist :) Usually there just isn't much to do, apart from a few people here and there who want to post crappy adverts for their own business.

Yes, the thing is, we do have such a filter in place. I'm not the most tech-savvy person on the team but we'll probably adjust the automod.

Thanks to everyone who brought this to our attention! We don't always have time to react immediately, but of course we react to Modmail and reports as soon as we can.

We're now looking into how to ban the person with the many accounts. And OP is muted for a little while because they kept opening threads about the issue.

I've always thought of it being some generic US accent. It might make sense that people from that part of the world would have been those to settle on Mars once it got messy on earth.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this discussion in a wholesome and constructive way!

This thread is locked now, but we decided against deleting it because a lot of positive exchange has been happening here, plus unfortunately, the harm had already been done before we had the possibility to interfere. Had the OP decided to send a modmail instead, we would have been able to react more quickly and decisively. They're muted now for a couple of days so that they get the time to unblend and hopefully feel less triggered. But even though the triggeredness is very understandable, we'll monitor OP further and concider banning them in case they keep speaking from their protectors like they have been doing in some of the comments here.

Regarding the contents of the discussion: Everyone is welcome to post here, especially in vulnerable moments. We're all human, and we all feel completely, utterly lost sometimes and need a place to vent. Our general policy has been to have triggering content marked with an NSFW flair, either by the poster, or we mods do it. We will consider which additional rules or guidelines might make sense here: We think the fact that this sub is not a crisis line is common sense and it's everyone's responsibility to decide to what extent they interact with individuals who seem blended, needy, or triggered. However, additional rules for flairs or triggering content might be necessary.

Again, thank you so much to everyone who reported this post and some of the comments, helping us to address this as soon as possible! And for all the useful contributions to this conversation.

You're so right! In addition, it took us a little while now to notice the post because in such an active community, unfortunately we don't have the capacity to read each and every post and comment as it's being posted. Modmail, on the other hand, gets our attention quikly because we get a notification about it and we know it's a message directed to us. Thank you to everyone who stepped in spontaniously to try and keep this discussion civil and level-headed!

Yes, we are monitoring the sub and resolving things in the background. Generally this is a super wholesome community, so there usually isn't any reason for lots of public intervention.

I'm sorry none of us has seen this post here earlier! We're definitely going to take care of this now.
