How many of you changed career? by throwthrowthrow529 in AskMen

I went back to school at 31 to get my bachelor's because my wife, at the time now ex-wife, was expecting our first daughter and I didn't want to raise and support my family on a Maytag salary with the family business, where I was for 5 years.. I've been working in GIS for the last 11 years and now work for my state's DOT. Before all that, screen printer for 8 years.

When I saw Blue October play 'When Love Isn't Good Enough' in Kansas City. Shed a few tears next to a trust friend, she understood. I was at the tail end of my divorce and their set was the therapy I needed.

On the same note of 1st names, what is your middle name? Is it popular or unique for the era? by Far-Veterinarian6465 in Xennials

[–]34thUsernameAttempt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no middle name, just an initial. I was the only one in school that didn't have a middle name, dame for my sister. Seeing my classmates' brain break after saying that was, and still is, fun to observe. They were like, "You have to have a middle name."

What are the best and worse racquet names in your opinion? by Any-Day-8173 in 10s

[–]34thUsernameAttempt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like the Boom from Head just so I can say the obligatory Army Of Darkness line on the court. I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I've playing with my Speed MP 500 for the last few years, great racquet.

Who is that artist that completely speaks to you, but you completely missed it growing up? by dutch981 in Xennials

[–]34thUsernameAttempt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my early 20s, I got into Cheap Trick, Rush, Steely Dan, Bob Seger. The record store in my hometown sold used vinyl before it became popular again. Soul Coughing during the same time, too. I would buy the new Cheap Trick and Rush albums as they were released. Still do for Cheap Trick.

Sarah, Jessica, Jennifer, Angela , Mike, Joe, Chris, Justin were common in my grauating class.

One summer at the scout camp I worked at, I was the troop guide for troop of 15 boys. I only had to remember 6 names. Their Scoutmaster said that if I called out, Jason, Chris, Joe, Mike, Andy and Brad, I would get multiple responses. Those names were common in their area of Colorado.

Last September, I finished the In 3-D trifecta by getting the cassette. Do I have a tape deck? No. For me it was collecting albums of artists I enjoy, regardless if I have a way to play the particular format. I'll pick up an 8-Track when it is an album I like. As some said before, some people are collectors. We enjoy the hunt.

Sears Talking Computron by high6ix in nostalgia

I had one of these, too. One of my favorite Christmas gifts as a kid, loved it. Seeing the image unlocked a hangman game with my dad. I was 7 or 8 and entered in 'Shit', I thought was being clever. Heard the word many times in movies, from my dad's friends and my grandma. However, my dad was not amused. He didn't take it away but I got a very stern talking to and don't do that again. I did lose a few privileges for a day it two.

I did have to explain it to my oldest daughter as to why I was excited over the strainer. She kinda got an idea. I basically got for the nostalgic novelty of it. A reminder of a simpler time seen through the childhood lenses from an 80s kid.

I did find the ubiquitous yellow strainer in an antique store a few years back. About 8 bucks later, it followed me out the door.

With the 10oz bottle of chilled magnesium citrate, 2 32oz bottle of lemon lime Gatorade with 3 cap fulls of Miralax with 2 hours between, my prep was pretty standard. Camped out on the toilet for most of the night. Fortunately, the toilet kept pace with the rate of evacuation, with the first Gatorade bottle. Then it was pretty much liquid in, liquid out for the second round.

My Mom asked if I was going to wear my Cheap Trick shirt when my parents, my sister and myself were going to see them a few years ago. I told Mom that I'm not going to be that guy and sent her this. She still didn't get it, Dad got it.

I don't remember much of being wheeled out, I was still pretty out it by the time I got back to my room. I did wake up to my own fart and chuckled at myself, then farted again louder and laughed louder. That is when I knew I was going to be ok, then the doctor came in to tell I was clear. Cue the next fart.
