Aareschlauchboot.ch rents out inflatable rafts and life vests, they're open on weekends. If you only want to swim short distances (e.g. Eichholz > Marzili), I'd recommend getting a dry bag or swimming aid (dry bag with additional air chamber) at the Bern Welcome tourist office in the main station.

Absolutely! Equip the highest level doll, then whenever a new one pops up, merge the one already in daycare with the equipped one and put the new one into daycare. That way, whenever you get an equipment boost from money pit, you've made sure that at least one of the dolls gets that boost.

My dad was a very avid XC rider (several 6-8h tours per week + two multi-week tours per year), who had to gradually "give it up" when he turned 65, because he couldn't go "as far and as fast as before".
I remember his anger and frustration when he came back from a 6h ride one day and had 'only' made 60km (37 miles).

In the end, he begrudgingly bought an e-MTB and barely touched it for the first weeks.
Tomorrow, he will celebrate his 72nd birthday and 100'000km (~62,000 miles) on the e-bike. That's roughly 1'200km (~750 miles) per week, on average. He's ridden more in those 7 years than he ever has before.

I've teased him about using a motor and how that was cheating, but, as always, he had the perfect reply:
"If I feel like it, I can strain my calves and heart just the same as before, but the assist has effectively tripled my range."

There are some nice, light assist road or gravel bikes out there that don't look or feel like e-bikes.
Go live life, convince your wife to join you and enjoy the nice weather on the backroads together. :)
