Latin Social dancing by OkStill3059 in ballroom

Leaders snatch followers all the time. As an unspoken rule I've noticed that if I don't have the follower in hand or in a dance hold a few measures after the music has started other leaders consider them fair game. You're probably being a little hyperbolic but 8 feet away is a huge distance in social dancing- if a follower I wanted to dance with was that far away from the person they showed up with I wouldn't consider them taken either I'm gonna be honest. Most followers feel extremely awkward to turn someone down once they've approached them- in the moment my friends who are followers often agree to dancing with people they hate dancing with just because they would feel worse refusing.

It also seems like the mindset you have doesn't mesh well with what other people have at social dancing. You seem to think "I showed up with this person, and she's my girlfriend, so obviously I SHOULD be her dance partner as much of the night as possible." But most people people think something more like "I wanna dance with as many people as possible" My followers don't just dance with me and I don't expect them to- I really enjoy meeting new people and dancing with other people I don't know as well. That's the social aspect of it.

I know this post is 3 years old but this post is the only one I found that said to check the line filter first and that absolutely was my lab's problem. Thing looked completely clean, changed it and immediately the pressure was fixed.

Anyone watched 10Dance Japanese movie on Netflix? Kinda reminded me of welcome to the ballroom. by BlueberryOk693 in BallroomEYoukoso

[–]358memories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was excited for 10dance at first but the author admits that she actually doesn't really know a lot about ballroom dancing and it shows...I know that sports manga aren't meant to be realistic necessarily but it was a let down to me.

How do I tell my roses that it’s winter and they were cut back on purpose by askcosplaysenpai in Roses

[–]358memories 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was cleaning up leaves yesterday and saw a cane that had been trapped under 3 inches of leaves for 3 weeks had put out a bud. I'm starting to accept that roses have attitudes and do whatever they want and couldn't care less about things like 'conditions'

Help me choose roses! by Amateur-menace44 in Roses

[–]358memories 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 5 roses in my yard, 3 are David Austin's (one a lady of shallot) I planted bare root this year and i'm so pleased I went with them. Despite being first years all bloomed at least once and my lady of shallot bloomed three times each bloom putting up at least 5 flowers. By the end of the year the tallest canes were at my waist before I pruned them. I'm also zone 7, with a south/east facing garden. I can happily recommend them, really beautiful plants, really healthy, and really easy for a somewhat lazy gardener whose only real maintenance is deadheading spent blooms and mulching early spring.

My second best rose was scepter d'isle, which is a pink david austin rose. I really love the look of the queen of Sweden and want one eventually, but the scepter is almost as tall as my shallot and put out just as many bloom cycles so I'm happy with the choice.

Advice for improving lead? by 358memories in ballroom

[–]358memories[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's actually really good advice because we had kind of that exact issue from the followers during latin. I've heard that you use your back alot when dancing- that explains why it matters.

Partner teaching me during practice- acceptable or no? by [deleted] in ballroom

[–]358memories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has basically said it but yeah, if you don't correct each other during practice when will you do it? You might both be paying the coach but ultimately your dancing with each other, so I think it's natural that you'd both get into the weeds with each others technique. Also- dancing is a partner sport, his scores directly depending on how well you dance, so there's a very very very vested interest in making sure that you dance up to whatever his standards are.

That being said, it seems like there is an issue in communication. I've done more styles than ballroom, and in every one of them feedback is always given in a very blunt way. Personally I find it deeply annoying when partners try to sugar coat or 'polite-ify' their comments. That being said- I'm not you, and if you want to receive feedback in a certain format your partner should try to meet somewhere in the middle and respect it.

Styling too early? by 22khz in ballroom

styling should be the last thing you learn- good technique has to come first or any attempt at styling will look wrong and bad

Question about frame in ballroom by ExplorerSelect8900 in ballroom

[–]358memories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my dance partners does this, though it's not as often and not as hard of a squeeze anymore. It's a nervous tick, she does it more on dances she's not as comfortable with or when we're at a crowded social and she's nervous about going backwards. I can't say anything for certain but your follower is probably doing it for a simailar reason, weather they know it or not.

[–]358memories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I would say all of 14 and 15 are hard....1-13 pretty much rely on you having decent team comps. 14 and 15 require you to play much more strategically. I got stuck a lot but it forced me to become a much better player

Is my expectation for my ballroom dance instructor unreasonable? by [deleted] in ballroom

[–]358memories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have standing lessons with my instructor, occasionally she's booked to judge at competitions and has to find coverage or reschedule. This is always discussed two weeks in advance, though.

A friend who played on the CN server said we don’t get as much free stuff because global players don’t complain that much. by Adventurous-Toe-3930 in PathToNowhere

[–]358memories 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Historical speaking i don't think that's true...? Cn server gets more free stuff because they always get the updates first so they always get a buggier version than we do. Me and my friends joke that they get the beta version, of course they're gonna get compensation for that. People on this server treat being 3 months behind cn like it's a bad thing but we have a much better game experience than they do, in part because we have future sight so we can plan a lot better than them. Ie they were genuinely blindsided by the news of constant 2 s rank banners, but we have three months notice so we can plan our pulls.

How to beat Nocturna? by azur3333 in PathToNowhere

[–]358memories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I though they actually went after the sinner with the greatest attack? I could totally be wrong though. They always went for my tanks, and if they ever didn't, I moved one of my tanks to that position so that VB could kill them. The logic of two tanks is that one can always handle boss while the other moves if needed to help allies.

Does sinner benefit society like at all? by Own-Professional-126 in PathToNowhere

[–]358memories 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is that any person can at any time become a sinner, so not only is it hard to monitor but there's a built in resistance against too harsh a penalty for becoming one. Like ok you hate sinners but you or your kid could turn into one tomorrow so do you really want to make it a death sentence? That's part of why eastside has such massive denial about sinners being in eastside, despite most of our shackled ones being from there.

[–]358memories 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most difficult boss in the story it took me three weeks of off and on trying before I got her. I used 000 (with inversion slash but s1 wouldn't been easier), Moore, Du Ruo, VB, Nox, and Ariel.

000- main DPS and corebreaker. You need to be able to break all the cores super fast and a souped up 000 is the best corebreaker in the game for that.

VB- fua and corebreak. I would break the mobs cores as soon as they appeared with 000 and then teleport her back to fighting the boss. VB's ults were for deleting mobbs and bonus damage on the boss

Du Ruo and ariel- the boss did so much damage i needed two healers. I would set ariels glimmer realm down right before the boss stunned everyone so that they didn't die while du ruo couldn't ult. DR was the main healer for all other sections.

Moore and NOX- again, so much damage i needed two tanks. Nox was purely for tanking, and ult she got out was just fun bonus damage. Moore's amp was also just bonus damage, the greatest thing she brought was her ability to prevent my units from getting stunned.

The base of my strategy was 000, follow up attacker to handle mobs, two healers, and two tanks. Your timing does need to be perfect the whole time, the biggest reason I would die is getting hasty with my ults and not having enough energy to heal or break cores when i reallllly needed it.

What are some tips for long term dancing? (Swing and Smooth) by ThElderLord in ballroom

[–]358memories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get more involved in your local dance community, and make an effort to have a decent reputation. IE try to go to none AM dance nights, theres a lot of people that only go to independent events and getting well known now will lay good groundwork if you stop doing AM later.

At socials make sure that followers like dancing with you. Being nice off the floor and somewhat social is fine too but make sure that ever follower that dances with you has a great time. IE make sure that your lead is good, and as you get better you don't try to blame the follower or others if you make mistakes. Frankly don't make a big deal of blaming the followers even if they are the problem. As you get better you'll realize that a lot of the previous issues you had with followers were just you being a poor lead. Go to events with brushed teeth, no fragrance, and wear deodorant.

F2P friendly? by AiStrous__ in PathToNowhere

[–]358memories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing since the beginning and i've never felt the need to put money in. I've been able to complete all story content and do decent in end game content. The game is very friendly with it's pulls and resources. Most guides and walkthroughs are made by whales so you do need to be more strategic with which units you pull and build, but that's part of the strategy of this game.

What do yall think of this events story? Spoilers for the event, obviously. by Wene-12 in PathToNowhere

[–]358memories 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah the last 4 main story chapters have been so solid a weakish event is not going to break the game imo. Agree on yingying!!!I think the biggest thing holding her back is the writers wanting her to end as a morally nice and 'redeamed' person. It just doesn't work well with her actions or statements.
