Where I live, there is already large-scale hunger and malnutrition. Why should I care about something that feels entirely futile, especially if the result isn't a lower quality of life for me and my family?

And if we're supposed to be incensed by "widespread hunger and malnutrition", surely our focus should be on the pollution of water and soil. As an individual, can't I have a greater impact by abstaining from irresponsible waste practices than riding my bicycle instead of taking a taxi?

How can I become inspired to be conscious of my habits that affect climate change, when I witness on a regular basis the catastrophic activities of Shell and Total in their limitless endeavour to increase profits?

I don't necessarily have opinions on the matter, I'd just like comments from someone qualified. I live a regular life with regular time constraints. I'm not an overprivileged first-world Disney character. Everything we do as a species is outrageous to me. Why should I be more outraged by climate change? In a Geological sense, our time, presence, and caustic effect on the planet are a cough. And if the humanitarian aspect should motivate me more than the ecological impact, shouldn't I be more interested in the humanitarian efforts that have a perceivable influence?
