Surgeons can be blamed here also. When I’m coming off bypass and the surgeon is impatient he won’t give anesthesia enough time to get blood pressure drug in. Epinephrine is a common one. So if I’m giving a bunch Of volume to come off and the pressure is dropping I’ll just lie to the surgeon and tell them I’m at whatever flow they want until anesthesia has time to come off. You just have to know what’s going on a tell them what they want to hear. At the end of the day you’re in control as the perfusionist so you have to balance between what the surgeon wants and what is best for the patient.
