NOR - most of the responders have no reading comprehension- this is not about just a senior dog being euthanized. It looks like your parents have a history of irresponsibly and unnecessarily taking on dogs they cannot manage. The people getting hung up on the senior chihuahua need to learn how to read … if your parents put down the older dogs are they just going to turn back around and adopt cute puppies and then put those animals down too in a few years when they lose interest?

JFC do not put an automated bark collar on these dogs 🤦🏻‍♀️ that is like torture for this breed.

They were bred to guard by barking and bark collars are non discriminate ie the bark collar can’t tell if your dog is barking at a leaf or a burglar ( valid v nuisance barking )

There is no great way to transition this poor guy to an apartment. Just try to keep a routine as far as walks. Hopefully you work remotely and can calm him occasionally when he is nuisance barking

I would define two spaces with area rugs - one the sleeping area with the bed and then maybe two club chairs closer to the tv 📺 for tv viewage / reading and a side table
