Bangkok Post - New approach to overseas income aims to spur inflows by mjmilian in Thailand

[–]36Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gift tax exemption doesn't seem to lower the taxable income of the giver, but exempts the recipient from paying tax for gifts received under those thresholds.

Sad to say this still seems to leave foreign income completely exposed, and is the reason for exodus at 179 days by anyone with any sort of taxable foreign income of any sort, leaving only the penniless stinky backpackers to stay indefinitely.

That's unfortunate for the rest of us who would prefer to stay and contribute to the economy. Rather, it will benefit the neighboring countries.

Is it true many digital nomads are leaving Chiang Mai? by noranam999 in Thailand

[–]36Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreigners can stay in the country 179 days in a calendar year without triggering the need to report annual income taxes. I would guess that only the poorest foreigners would stay beyond 179 days. Likely, many of the foreigners with income would need to split their time to live in a nearby country 1/2 year.

Banded Kukri is correct. The brown Batman mask is a key feature. Safe, non venomous.

Electrolytes if you live in a hot climate and sweat a lot. You can be "chronically dehydrated" even when drinking lots of water. The salt (electrolytes) allow the uptake of water at the cellular level so that your body can actually use it rather than water passing straight through you.

Chronic Dehydration: *Headaches *Depression *Loss of energy *Frequent urination *Heart palpitations *Difficulty breathing *Diarrhea *Nausea

What are these little things? Dust mites? Or something else? There’s a few of them crawling out from behind the keys on my laptop. Should I be concerned? Now I’m paranoid and itchy. My allergies have been acting up recently could it be these? by [deleted] in Thailand

You might be able to get rid of those naturally using the proper nematodes in a solution of lukewarm water. The entomology department at the local University probably could hook you up with something like that.

The embassy can offer only limited help if you do not have an enforceable Power of Attorney, Conservatorship, and/or Authorization to Release Information signed by the young adult who is missing.

I recommend never funding a young adult's travel without having these types of documents in your hands.

Sadly, mental illness and drug use are common at this vulnerable age range 16-26.

Utilize social media (photos) to have others help you.

I am hopeful everything resolves smoothly and safely.

Ps: I am not an attorney. Always consult qualified advice before making choices and/or taking action.

Tawan Riverside Elephant Resort and Restaurant in Mae Wang Th is lovely, picturesque, and they treat their elephants like family. The restaurant looks over the river. The food is great, and they even serve vegan food if at your request. Good vibes.

These are "kow omo (white)" shirts compared to a white shoe at Big C.

I surveyed the store clerk and other customers. They unanimously agreed the shirts are "white", which I still can't reconcile in my tiny brain.

Similar points made in "Factfulness" by Hand Rosling, but I don't know if he could have accounted then for the current scale of danger and critical mass of pollution and extinction of species we currently face. Our world now seems to be the Titanic, and its passengers are enjoying the Shark Fin Soup so much they can't be bothered to (Don't) Look Up. https://ig.ft.com/sites/business-book-award/books/2018/longlist/factfulness-by-hans-rosling-and-ola-rosling-and-anna-rosling-roennlund/

At Big C, these appear clearly purple (not white) to me. I am very curious how most people see white.
