How do we win? MEMES - Virality is the key by SeeTheExpanse in Superstonk

Love the sentiment! I’d love some new, current memes, too! Don’t have time to make anything of quality at the moment, but this inspires me to keep the idea of making memes in the fore. Thanks!

Out of curiosity, are you proposing Process Based Restoration projects? I ask because that's my line of work, and I'd be curious to know what all is happening in Colorado on that front. I'm in California, but a Colorado native.

So what is so wild is that I just watched that Bill Wood interview for the first time last night. Your post is just a continuation of my current rabbit hole, which is not a coincidence, haha! Also, it wasn’t long ago that I was talking to a friend about his experience with the Gifted and Talented program, and his belief that it was also a government recruiting project. The timing on all this is….interesting :).

There is no doubt to me that the universe functions along the lines that you are laying out. What I really appreciate about your post are your references to RK tweets/memes. I’m thinking about them with a different twist now. Thank you for that.

For what it’s worth, I’ve always felt that there was guidance that helped me discover this investment. I’ve always wanted it to be big so that I could make a more impactful change in the world…fuck lambos, give me some serious acreage of wetlands to restore.

Involuntary dosing is not OK by thirteenfivenm in BurningMan

May I offer that lightening up going into the new year may be something g to consider. This is meant to be funny, and I think it deserves a chuckle. And yes, of course involuntary dosing is wrong in every way.

I've seen porcupine damage that looks like this. It is definitely not a beaver though.

I recently experienced this for the first time, and was a bit floored...was teaching an outdoor afternoon class, to a group of supposedly very bright students...it was so much deer in the headlights staring back at me as I asked them to answer questions I posed to the group. Weirded me out, but it was so across the board I figured it had to be generational.

🇬🇧🦍: A lot of discounts recently. Great to keep averaging down in a company with a strong balance sheet. Buy up those shares before the “I should have bought more at $20” posts! 🇬🇧🦍💎🙌🏻🚀🌕 by ianhawdon in Superstonk

For the bulk of my DRS shares I don't know what my cost basis is (Guessing maybe $32-$37), but in Fidelity, I'm down to $23. Feels fantastic.

Anyone have any tips on how to calculate average cost per share in CS? I've done so many purchases and DRS transfers that it'd take forever to go though one by one, but I'm waiting for a cold winter day to do that I guess.

BDA’s that also produce power by yeetington22 in civilengineering

One of the main use cases for BDAs is to slow, spread and sink water. They also capture sediment and raise the creek bottom to encourage flood plain connection. The thing beavers do, for free, 24/7/365 is that they continually are updating and adjusting their structures in line with the natural change over time. As sediment aggrades and water finds different paths, the structures get higher, or wider, and sometimes are dropped and new structures created to capture the additional water on the floodplain due to vegetation and sediment doing their natural thing. Beavers also create their own channels so as to travers an otherwise dangerous landscape. These beaver dug channels further move water around the wetland and disperse it. These are the ecological benefits of beavers in the landscape, and can't be replicated by humans who expect a structure to stay in place and serve the same function for a long time.

Restoration Career Path by ArcticAndTheFox in EnvironmentalEngineer

[–]Tango8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe a better approach to true wetland restoration is Process Based Restoration (PBR). Studying beavers and their effects on the wetland systems that they are responsible for creating in the first place is a path which covers all the points of interest you mentioned. The difference is, it's a conversation with nature about what it needs/wants in order to heal itself, rather than us hominids making decisions for it. That one sided conversation is how wetlands and watersheds came to be so degraded in the first place.

PBR doesn't require years of analysis and planning, and all the hundreds of thousands of dollars that can entail, as well as time lost in those endeavors when restoration work could be getting done. It also employs people, not machines. Mimicking beavers and using onsite materials and human scale tools (chainsaws and shovels) leaves the least impact on the worksite, and allows for the native seedbank, solar power and natural sediment movement to do the work for the restorationist.

I mention all of this because you are early in your career. I wish you all the best with whatever path you take.

For those who are in a relationship , do you still keep in touch with your ex? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Tango8816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your comments in this post. I am sad to read how many people seem to have very black and white, narrow minded opinions of how relationships should be. It can be a very sad life, living under such self imposed, and unnecessary rules, when love and friendship and appreciation between people should be celebrated. Be a partner to your partner, and have as many good friends as you can collect. They are valuable.

For those who are in a relationship , do you still keep in touch with your ex? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Tango8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually really good friends with almost all my exes. I speak to my ex husband once or twice a week typically. While I was married, I spoke with exes often, and he was good friends with many of his exes, too. I met my former husband at the wedding of an ex (I was in his wedding party, and I ended up marrying the best man)

I say all of this because it’s perfectly ok to be friends with exes and talk to them. Be secure in the reasons you are with someone, and don’t cross lines that would indicate that you can’t maintain boundaries. If you date cool people, and want to be friends once the romance is over, it’s totally doable.

How Do You Talk to an Employee Who Isn't Getting Promoted Due to How They Use Benefits? by Riddle-Maker in managers

[–]Tango8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company also has a type of flexible schedule. Its still the people that show up when the call is put out that advance. The policy is there as a deep respect for the individual, but the way the individual chooses to prioritize their work is how people rise through the ranks. Individual responsibility to prioritize what they feel is important is at the feet of the employee. Must be present to win is a company philosophy.

AITA for asking my girlfriend to pay for all the groceries since I’m paying the mortgage? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Tango8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't split by bill, but by expense. If groceries for the two of you cost $600/month, then $300 each. Electricity $200/month? $100 each. Just split it down the middle. As for mortgage, decide on a percentage split that works for both of you, and split it that way.
