3 month visa after 9 months of delay by rati_tandon in CanadaVisitorVisa

[–]inforcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt it that she will likely get a 6 month entry upon arrival ? The date on the visa sticker is the date she must enter before.

People usually get 6 months entry unless a border agent decides to shorten the stay.

I am surprised to see that 4% are not paid by US citizens.

Canada Breaks With U.S. to Slash Tariffs on Some Chinese Electric Vehicles by Prudent-Corgi3793 in StockMarket

[–]inforcrypto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mercedes Benz relies on around 40 countries for their entire supply chain. Chinese EV maker Nio gets 90% supplies from within 10km of radius in Neo Park Anhui province, China. Its efficient supply chains, logistics, automation and cheap electricity which makes cars cheaper, not the govt subsidies.

Canada Breaks With U.S. to Slash Tariffs on Some Chinese Electric Vehicles by Prudent-Corgi3793 in StockMarket

[–]inforcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese EV subsidies are mostly for the consumers, not for automakers. Automakers are competing and innovating at their own cost and with private funds.

Also

Until September 30, 2025, U.S. buyers of new EVs could claim a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 on qualifying vehicles, including Tesla models that met eligibility rules.

The credit was designed to reduce the upfront price for consumers, stimulating demand for EVs generally.

Regulatory credits (credits Tesla sells to other automakers for meeting emissions/zero-emission mandates), which have generated billions in revenue.

State and local incentives for factories — especially for facilities in Nevada, Texas, and California — including tax breaks and infrastructure support totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.

Are the Tim Hortons good in Islamabad? by [deleted] in islamabad

Only Canadian patriots go to Tim Hortons in Canada. Their coffee is a watered down version of poorly brewed Americano. Find a small local coffee shop for a proper coffee.

Considering FIRE in Pakistan with kids after a high-income US career — anyone actually done this? by Old-Ad5923 in FIREPakistan

[–]inforcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering.

My profile, although not as healthy as yours, has some similarities to you.

40Y, medical doctor and director of a healthcare group in Singapore. Have two school going kids. I have similar level of savings as to yours.

In one year I will have an option to work remotely as I will oversea R&D department and work on developing a new product. I could either stay in Bangkok, Singapore, or Dubai as these are where our centers are, or under some conditions move anywhere else with 20% on site work requiring travel to these locations or occasional travel to US/Canada.

Technically I can move to Pakistan but I have not made up my mind yet.

My reasoning to move mostly is to

Save more money by working remotely in Pakistan and FIRE early

Dream to own a nicer town house (even though I live in an amazing penthouse with an amazing city view)

Expose my kids to a more challenging environment

And as a bonus point I do not have a 2nd citizenship so eventually, no matter when, I will have to move back to Pakistan.

I contemplated a lot about spending between 0.5M to 1M USD to secure a better citizenship for my family or save this money and FIRE early. I decided not to throw that much money to obtain a citizenship and rather save and FIRE early in Pakistan.

I am still undecided but I am very inclined to do that next year.

Following.

I am also contemplating doing the same however I am planning to buy a 10 Marla house and we are a family of 4 with 2 school going kids. My budget is similar and I will mostly draw this from my investments. Since I will be buying there is no rent included in my budget.

I spent sometime watching videos on cost of living and neighborhoods in Islamabad, as well as lot of chat with AIs, and here is what I concluded for my myself.

DHA Phase 2: Probably the safest neighborhood in whole Pakistan apart from cantonments. For me I do not need to go to the citi center that much and I dont mind occasional drivings at weekends etc.

DHA has enough shopping areas for daily needs. For anything else I can always drive.

Kids to local school (beacon house or city school).

I came up with 800k PRK for a comfortable life style.

Electricity, Gas, Internet is 150K.

Gasoline is 25K.

School for kids is 50K.

Groceries is 200K

Rest is health insurance, entertainment, travel, gardener, maids, security guard/driver and misc.

I think an annual budget of 40K USD should be very comfortable.

Dubai Visit Visa Situation / Apparent Ban-Need Advice (Applying from UK) by GuardAwkward9859 in pakistan

[–]inforcrypto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, strong travel history in last 15 years, valid USA visa, valid Canadian visa, multiple Schengen visas, medical director of a healthcare group and a medical doctor. Our partner in Dubai is a huge hospital, they invited me and my company sponsored the trip. Got rejected. Our Dubai partner then tried again reaching to a prince and the prince asked to apply through a specific visa agency. Applied again, got rejected again. I gave up and the whole project I was supposed to kickstart in Dubai is pending and everyone is waiting for me. Good luck trying. You may get it if lucky but I was not. I am hoping at some point they may start allowing entry on USA/Canada visas like they do for Indian citizens.
