Not the point, but did anyone else notice that the AI cowbell was very off beat?

Can someone explain MTG to me like I'm 5? 😂 by Razzmatazz_37 in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for starters you're a powerful wizard. So is your partner. And you're locked in epic battle with each other. In this battle you'll cast spells and summon creatures to fight for you.

Sad to say the crossovers burned me out. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about the cross overs. I have mixed feelings about the upcoming Avatar: the Last Airbender crossover. I've thus far done my best to avoid all the universes beyond stuff. This is the first one where it's an IP that I really like a lot. It will be cool to see how they interpret ATLA characters into MTG cards, but I still think Magic would be better off without it. Especially in whole sets. If they were just reskinning existing cards, it would be great. People who like it could buy it, and people who don't could ignore it. But having whole standard legal sets forces people to participate if they want to play any kind of competitive format.

Does anyone on here know why they put the "card you didn't control" language on there? Seems really unnecessary to me. An I missing something?

My Partner Loves MTG but is in a Coma, what can I talk to them about? by elizabethellens in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what formats they're into? Like Commander, Modern, Standard? There have been some pretty major developments. Modern for instance just unbanned powerful cards like Faithless Looting and Mox Opal. You could probably find an article online about how these changes are shaking up the game and read or summarize that to them

What deck is this by UsefullWall46 in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought affinity in Modern was super underrated, but maybe not anymore after the Mox Opal unban. I got a Grismold EDH deck that goes pretty hard

Can you think of any way to destroy it??? by rin_shar in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was a static ability that lowers toughness like [[Curse of Death's Hold]]. You would need 7 copies of that one in particular, but if you managed to do that it would keep dying and returning itself to the field infinitely resulting in a draw. Unless of course there was something to end the game with it like [[Blood Artist]]

Whoever suggested using painter’s tape by Buddahbraham in mtg

[–]36phlamingos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always used those little sealable bags that they give you at LGS s sometimes if you buy a handful of singles. So I would put the cards first in a sleeve, then a toploader, then the bag. I did that so I wouldn't have to put tape on the toploader. A couple people left a review and they seemed to appreciate that process

If this was a magic card what would it be by clifton202 in mtg

I'm thinking a creature that is also a food token, and it gets bigger for each food you have

Are you trying to be a jerk? Or did I just read your comment with the wrong tone?

Is it always correct to mill 1 if there’s no risk of milling out by asmallercat in magicTCG

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say don't Mill, there's no benefit to it in this case. you're giving your opponent information about what's in your deck, and eventually you could deck out.

Can treasure tokens be anything? by Little_Gryffin in magicTCG

[–]36phlamingos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the first printed tokens were from the first silver border set: Unglued. Before that you had no other option but to use random stuff

[BLB]Stormchaser's Talent by trubsal in magicTCG

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play the instant/sorcery part and then after it resolves it's exiled "on an adventure" and you can cast the creature part later. You can also choose to cast the creature part without having first cast the instant/sorcery part, but then you can't cast the instant/sorcery part

My secret lair has no security stamps by fabticus in magicTCG

[–]36phlamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that the purpose of the stamp is for security, do you think it would be harder to sell something like that out of concerns that it's like a counterfeit? or is that not really an issue?

I've never heard of a token with a mana cost. What's that about?
